Only Azog knew Can't Post

It recently occurred to me that no one, aside from Azog, knows of the details that led to Thorin's death. Bilbo was with Thorin during his last moments, but he did not bear witness to his sacrifice. Only Azog knew of Thorin's action that led to the his fatal wound. Unsure While this does not change the fact that what Thorin did was both heroic and honorable, it's disappointing it was not seen by someone who would've cared.

Perhaps the eagles saw - their sight is better than human.

Or maybe Legolas saw with his elf eyes.

If you examine the "crime scene"...

Thorin's sword was still sticking out of Azog's chest. Legolas would have known that Thorin wielded Orcrist before dying (as he returned it to him).

Not too hard to put two and two together!

The eagles would have at least seen the two fighting (they swoop overhead).
