TWO Riddles MORE ?? Can't Post

1.
Here the flowers grew wild and tall
and swayed the grasses green.
Here the Tales speak of a fall,
Indeed a gruesome scene.

Here changed hands The Shards reknown
and ended so short a reign.
Here the King lost life and crown
and here was lost his bane.

What am I?

2.
A small dark grove stands at my front,
A grove it seems of black.
But the blackness there does not compare
With that beyond my back.

What am I?

Gladden Fields is correct. Good mouse! [In reply to] Can't Post

For those who need the info:

Here the flowers grew wild and tall
and swayed the grasses green.
Here the Tales speak of a fall,
Indeed a gruesome scene.
Here changed hands The Shards reknown
and ended so short a reign.
Here the King lost life and crown
and here was lost his bane.

The Gladden Fields
Isildur (King) was killed (fall) after some two years (short reign) of Kingship. Shortly before his death he gave the Shards of Narsil to Ohtar (changed hands), who removed them to Rivendell. The Ring (Isildur's Bane) was lost in the Anduin (the Gladden Fields).

Oops, sorry Otaku... [In reply to] Can't Post

Didn't mean to be overly blunt, but was in a hurry....

Your guess of Morthond Vale was a good one and hits close to home

but doesn't cover all the factors in the riddle.

Can't outFox the Fox. . . [In reply to] Can't Post

A small dark grove stands at my front,
A grove it seems of black.
But the blackness there does not compare
With that beyond my back.

Expanation for those in need.. Evil

The Dark Door or Forbidden Door
… A small group of black trees (The Dimholt, small dark grove) grew before this entrance to the Paths of the Dead (beyond my back).
