when I was going through a bit of a detective phase. I enjoyed them. But I mostly don't read fiction. I mostly don't read anything much these days...

They are well done, but I never can seem to care about anyone in them, and I think it's because the author doesn't either; there's no sense of heart behind her words. Formidable intellect, yes, but that's not enough for me. I sometimes have the same problem with P.D. James. They are both very "dry" writers I would say. Not that I like saccharine writing, but something in between suits me better.
