The Reluctant Hero

He led a life of leisure of comfort and content- His days dawned each and sundry with no untoward event; When what to his wonder happened without even his consent? A visit from thirteen travelers and one old and wizened gent. Then made the thirteen music, of gloom and yet so fair: . They sang of gold and silver and of precious jewels rare. With passions high a pact he made and fealty did swear, To join this fearsome business for but a fourteenth share. Of the venture they did weave and the trail that they did wend; Of the Goblins and Great Wargs and the Dragons fiery den, Fair songs are sung by fireside as voice and harp do blend Into the time he took that step from the doorway of Bag End.

That was beautiful! Thanks for the inspiration, it really made me think of what happened after... The reluctant Hero's heir. (or hair?) Loyal, honest, brave and true It's just as well he never knew That the road upon which he then tarried Would soon be twisted by that which he carried That treachery, doubt, greed and fear Would make him question that he held dear The twists and turns were so designed To make him think he'd lost his mind A band of brothers fell apart The ring succeeded in sowing doubt Yet a light remained, the truth broke free Promising an end to the misery For all the eye sought to deceive It failed to discern a growing need love and light shone through the blight To show the way to end the night Sacrifices were made, arrows found their mark And at times it was hard to see in the dark webs were spun, sought to delay And yet our hero found his way To renew that hope once feared lost helped from a most unexpected source And so this tale it can be told Because of he : Frodo the bold.

For some reason I pictured you writing it with a quill a la Bilbo at his desk. More, please!

I have a couple more but am deciding whether I have the cheek to put them on Main. Or stick to O.T. ?? Main doesn't say anything about poetry so . ..?

Seems Main gets more traffic than either "Fan Art" or the 'Hall" and according to Altaira Main is ok. Altough yes, is does seem a little cheeky to go Main with these... And wouldn't we all like the most folks possible to see our work? Not that there's any genius involved here p.s. Poetry, prose, fanfic and drabbles have a home here too, or post them on Main if you wish.

Looking over the "Hall of Poets", I think that is the logical way to go. Thanks BlackFox (and Grey Elf). Nice poems BlackFox. *moved and seconded*

I just danced around the Hall of Poets. Saw a couple of BlackFox's. Will dance a little harder and check yours out too. But I know you two could teach ME a thing or two too.

The GHoP holds many examples of the talented poets who pen verse on TORn. I'm sure yours will fit right in.
