I agree Nomad. [In reply to] Can't Post

It took me about 6 years to be able to listen to it in the car without having to wear sunglasses to hide tears. I remember hearing it play at the end of Trilogy Tuesday and just having my chest tighten up, it struck such a chord. The theater was dead quiet, you could have heard a pin drop except for some people weeping as the sketches rolled by and the song played.

It still brings tears to my eyes. [In reply to] Can't Post

What a wonderful closure to the LotR Trilogy... so emotional and beautiful.

This is my first weekend without somewhere to go or something to do, so it's MASSIVE yard work raking and burning at least 18 big wheelbarrows-full of black walnuts that fell from my 40 ft tree last fall. Branches, twigs, trimming my dragon-bush.... and the temp is clear & low 70s. That means I'm also getting in at least one 4-mile walk around the block ;)

Perfect song. [In reply to] Can't Post

Of all the end credit songs this one is my favorite. Think it summed up perfectly the trilogy.
Beautiful music, evocative lyrics and of course the awesome Annie Lennox.

It reduces me to a blubbering mass every time. :( But I love it. // [In reply to] Can't Post

I find it hard to listen to... [In reply to] Can't Post

...without tearing up. I selected it for my grandmother's funeral, and the family all felt it was a good choice, as she was born on the west coast of NZ, and we felt her spirit would return there.

Her coffin was carried out to 'Into the West', and we waved the hearse off as the orchestral piece swells and swirls at the end. I pretty much lost the plot about then, and to today, I have to switch it off before it gets to that part.

"Then the bells shall ring in gladness at the Mountain King's return... but all shall fail in sadness, and the lake will shine and burn."
