RIP Andrew Lesnie

It was reported earlier and then seemingly confirmed that our master of light, Andrew Lesnie, has passed away due to a heart attack at the age of 59. I am so incredibly saddened by this news. He was always so cheerful and I always enjoyed his interviews. My condolences to his family. He brought Middle-Earth to life like no other possibly could. Pass into the West our friend.

The amazing (in this case - unfortunate) thing about having such amazing behind the scenes features on all the middle earth movies is that I really do feel like I know so many of the cast and crew. I'm grieving Lesnie's death now as though I knew him. I can only imagine how his family and friends must feel. We were so blessed to have been able to share in his work. He will be missed.

That is exactly how I feel. I feel like the cast and crew are extended family. I'm very sad about this.
