2 MORE Riddles . . . ??? Can't Post

1.

Black Gate guarding, overlooking the plain.
Built after Isildur seized his Bane.

What am I?

2.

This twisted bent ascent
Spires to the fiery pyre
Of a place of base disgrace.
In need of care those who dare to repair
Do not rejoice, having no voice in the choice.

What am I?

The Morannon was built [In reply to] Can't Post

in the 2nd Age. I assume the Towers of the Teeth were included at the same time... ?

Nice tries Otaku… Thanks… [In reply to] Can't Post

See note to BlackFox above for #1

#2 Endless Stair had me for a time but only partially works….

The Endless Stair was spiral (not necessarily “twisted and bent” – yes a picky point).

The Balrog’s fire was quenched at the lowest point of the abyss, so “Spires to the fiery pyre” (to Durin’s Tower) doesn’t quite fit.

Also there is no mention (that I know of) of the repairing of the Endless Stair (Another picky point!)

All-in-all a very good guess Otaku; but there IS an answer that works on all fronts….

Closing in BF [In reply to] Can't Post

"Black Gate" Guarding doesn't fit...

Hint: Both answers are within Mordor....

Note: I'm having some 'serious' computer problems. Mad

Winding Stair... A really good try BF... [In reply to] Can't Post

Winding is GOOD...

But no "fiery pyre" at its end...
And no mention of it's need of "repair"...

(Hmm, maybe Shelob took care of it? You gotta have something to do besides eat orcs! Naw! She would have had "choice")

Doing a quick semi-accurate measurement from a map you're about 70 miles (crow fly distance) from your target.

NOW does THAT make any sense. OH, Yeah IT do.. [In reply to] Can't Post

Sauron's Road ran from Barad-dur across Gorgoroth to Mt. Doom, where it spiraled ccwise to the Sammath Naur.

It needed constant repair (by conscripted) orcs because of the mountain's temperment....

Ain't it fun when it all fits? SmileSmile

Thanks a bunch for your wisdom Angelic and tenaciousness. Mad
