Walk to Rivendell - and Beyond! Weeks of April 9 and 23 Can't Post

I'm late *checks clock* I'm late, for a very important date! Dear, oh dear...

How go your journeys through Middle Earth these past two weeks?

My progress:
Miles covered (two week): 36
Cumulative miles: 288
Goal: Bag End to Rivendell

Things have been a bit... down the rabbit-hole... lately 'round here. Spring sprang, and with it, our household's birthday season, which involved two said birthdays occurring in the week of Easter, followed immediately by my kids' Spring Break this week. During which we had a field trip (Tedx Youth in Denver). And a birthday sleepover, since Good Friday somehow didn't seem like the best time for such activity. But all the busyness was the type of stuff that added to my mileage, and the weather has been highly conducive to out-of-doors walks - including one on Easter Sunday with my dad and kids to the sculpture park here in town that was downright glorious. Cool

In Middle Earth, we've made it out of Weathertop alive, though not uninjured, and we're high-tailing it to Rivendell as fast as we can, only stopping to rest when we need to. Don't like Black Riders, not one little bit!

Hey, Arandiel! [In reply to] Can't Post

Boy, haven't you been busy! Laugh

It's been another good couple of weeks for me mileage-wise, despite last week's lousy weather.

My progress (as of Thursday):
Miles covered this past two weeks: 60
Cumulative miles: 323
Goal: Bag End to Rivendell

In Middle-earth, I'm continuing in a wide shallow curving valley, inching ever closer to the mountains.

Happy walking, everyone! Smile

If the whole trip to the dragon is this easy, we'll get there in no time [In reply to] Can't Post

We've been trotting along or past the Chetwood, Midgewater Marshes, Bree, etc. I think the dwarves stink a bit more after bathing in the marshes, though really, who can tell for sure? Lucky them, the bugs wanted no part of their nasty, tough hides.

We're still passing along the marshes, which go on FOREVER!

I've run a bit, not snacked a lot and lost a few pounds (amazing how that happens!)

I missed last week, so this is a 2-week update for me:

My progress:
Miles covered this 2 weeks: 79
Cumulative miles: 137
Goal: Dragons, and TREASURE!

Howdy Fellow Travellers! [In reply to] Can't Post

Wow, Arandiel! There was a LOT going on in your neck of the woods... but WHAT FUN!! :D

I've been running and working and way too busy, too... but it really is great on the mileage count!

The Fellowship and I made it to the Last Bridge where Aragorn found a unique little stone laying in there like someone might have dropped it a'purpose! hmmmmmm..... We're only about a hundred miles away from Rivendell, so we're starting to be more hopeful of this part of the journey coming to an end!

Take Care Fellow Walkers... and I hope everyone has a GREAT week! Thanks for keeping us on the Road, Arandiel :)

Miles covered: 30 miles 3/2; 27 miles 4/9 total=57
Cumulated miles: 358

GOAL: Walk to Rivendell and stay at the Last Homely House – 485 miles

If only we could balance it out a bit - I could trade some of our 'unseasonably warm and dry' for your 'rainy and chilly'.

We should have someone get right on that. Wink

Thursday, April 23, UPDATE! [In reply to] Can't Post

Wow, we're still on the first page after two weeks? It must be the calm before the Founders' Day storm! At any rate, it's time for an update on the Walk. Wink

How's it going? What sights are you seeing? What company are you keeping as you travel through Middle Earth via this Earth?

My progress:
Miles covered (two weeks): 37
Cumulative miles: 325
Goal: Bag End to Rivendell

The Hobbits, Strider and I are in a valley south of the Great East Road currently, trying to get to the Loudwater as fast as we can. Frodo's not looking too good...

I'm slowly working my mileage up, trying to balance getting more exercise and not stressing my foot out - so far, so good. I'd really love to be getting over 25 miles a week soon! The weather keeps beckoning me outside to do some weeding, mulching and walking - but laundry calls, and so do errands. sigh.

Have a great next week, everyone!

Hey Walkers! [In reply to] Can't Post

Time really DOES fly! I had a massively busy past couple of weeks and got a LOT of mileage in. The first week included adminning a couple of scholastic tests with running between rooms from 5:30am till about 6pm. Finally got lunch at 4pm! But it's a great workout! Then there's the BEST mileage maker with our local (farm country) Maple Syrup Festival where the whole town and outlying homes on the country roads turns into a GIANT yard sale! Hundreds of yardsales in a 5-mile radius with the majority within 2 miles. Rides, games, parades, pancake suppers with Maple syrup made from our own town trees. It's epic for a sleepy little town.

As for my walking in Middle-earth, the Fellowship and I have met up with Glorfindel and are making our way to Rivendell; but Frodo is fading fast and we just can't go any quicker.

Thanks so much for keeping us on the Road, Arandiel! And do take your time with your foot still healing (pardon the pun ;)... which I hope is VERY SOON!

See everyone on the Road... and have a GREAT week (or two ;)

Getting away from the Trolls is a VERY good thing! I like it when we meet up with Glorfindel cuz it takes some of the burden off a very tired Strider.

Still alive... [In reply to] Can't Post

Yep, I'm still alive, and I'm still walking, even though I haven't checked in in, oh, five weeks? No excuse, really, for not checking in other than that we have brought out puppy home, and she is keeping me more than busy. Lots of small walks every day and puppy watching in between, so that she doesn't chew up the furniture, steal our shoes or tear up her bed. She is just a cute and cuddly bundle of mischief.

Anyway, I have done quite a few miles over the last few weeks, so here is my progress:
