Songs that remind you of Middle-earth characters

Is there a song that makes you think of a particular Middle-earth character when you hear it? I've loved Hayley Westenra's singing ever since I first heard her singing May It Be several years ago on my Pandora LOTR station, and before we knew who would be singing the end credits songs at the end of the Hobbit movies, she was one of my performer preferences. I recently came across one of her songs on 8tracks with which I was unfamiliar. The song is a gorgeous one, "Listen to the Wind." Anyway, the music was so beautiful and haunting that I looked up the lyrics and then it hit me how perfectly the song fits the story of Thranduil and his lost wife. Especially with the references to nature and the wind in the leaves ("leaves" reminded me of Legolas) and time being a "river that flows to the sea" (makes me think of Valinor). The lyrics sound like a loving message sent from the Elvenqueen to console Thranduil, to tell him to remember the good times he had with her and look for memories of her in the forest, and that she loves him. I know it's probably too soon for news about a Thranduil spin-off movie, but I would love to see a War of the Last Alliance or War in the North movie in a few years. Hayley Westenra remains my pick for end credits performer if that happens. I think a song from her would be a perfect way to end a bittersweet movie about the King of Mirkwood. For now, wishful thinking maybe, but I don't want to give up hope... If we were to see a romance between Thranduil and his queen onscreen (which, given what we know from BOTFA, would probably end with tragedy), I think Hayley would give them a beautiful love theme. Does anyone else have a song that they link with a specific Middle-earth character?

that Bette Midler's 'Wind beneath my wings' always reminds me of Frodo and the support he receives from Sam. It mentions eagles too, which is always good!

...but after reading your post I've just found it and it's beautiful. Lovely idea about Thranduil too - funnily enough before the song played there was an advert for Battle of the Five Armies. Thanks for starting my morning off with that! If anyone else is curious, here's a link

Lean On Me by Bill Withers always makes me think of Sam and Frodo. "Lean on me when you're not strong, I'll be you friend, I'll help you carry on." Why Can't We Be Friends by War reminds me of Legolas and Gimli.

This one makes me think of Aragorn arriving at the Battle of the Pelennor Fields. When I went to YouTube to look up a video, my system froze, so I'm not adding a link. But I see someone else has already done an LotR/Broadsword video. It's not a huge leap! Just substitute "stone of green" for "cross of gold" I see a dark sail on the horizon Set under a black cloud that hides the sun Bring me my broadsword and clear understanding Bring me my cross of gold as a talisman Get up to the roundhouse on the cliff-top standing Take women and children and bed them down Bring me my broadsword and clear understanding Bring me my cross of gold as a talisman Bless with a hard hearth and those who surround me Bless the women and children, who firm our hands Put our backs to the north wind, hold fast by the river Sweet memories to drive us on for the motherland I see a dark sail on the horizon Set under a black cloud that hides the sun So bring me my broadsword and clear understanding Bring me my cross of gold as a talisman So bring me my broadsword and a cross of gold as a talisman
Where now the horse and the rider? Where is the horn that was blowing? Where is the helm and the hauberk, and the bright hair flowing? Where is the hand on the harpstring, and the red fire glowing? Where is the spring and the harvest and the tall corn growing? They have passed like rain on the mountain, like a wind in the meadow; The days have gone down in the West behind the hills into shadow....

There's a song by Scottish band Runrig called 'From the North' that reminds me very much of the Riders of Rohan. It's on their 'Proterra' cd. Sorry, don't know how to do links.

This Blue Oyster Cult standard is really about Michael Moorcock's Elric of Melnibone and his cursed sword Stormbringer, However it reminds me of Beleg's black, iron sword Anglachel that was reforged for Turin and re-named Gurthang.
