First poem ever

Can't Post

Hello guys, this is my first ever poem, the only poetical study I have ever taken was when I was 16 at school, so please don't judge this too harshly, as it is probably rubbish, but here we go: The horse and the rider The city was soon to be taken The free-folk had fought their best fight Children fled, broken and shaken Day would soon give way to night But before all was lost to despair An alliance of old was rejoined Upon the hill came riders of flowing gold hair A fresh battle now would be joined The king he emerged from the host He brandished a sword and a shield Mounted on horse white, like ghost He galloped across golden field He passed like a wind in a meadow His Eored could not keep speed Descending upon foe behind the hills into shadow A picture of valorous deed The king he clashed swords with their chieftain Spilling his blood on the floor He looked to his horse's eyes, Snowmane Recalling his fathers of yore But before he returned to his senses Ambushed by mantle on wings Absent were his defences The sweetness of battle now stings Here now the horse and the rider Here now the horn blowing Passed like rain on the mountain Passed like wind in the meadow

And definitely not rubbish! The story of Theoden and Snowmane has always been one of my favorites. Please keep writing.
