I enjoyed watching that and there are some very neat links there. It's well done too. But am I imagining it or is there is clip - around 5.03 - that doesn't come from The Hobbit or Lord of the Rings at all? It's a man's face. He looks more computer generated than real, that's what made him stand out. He's looking at a tower which I also I don't recognise.

It is from the Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor video game, and I have no idea why it is in this video Anyway, it was great to watch!

liked watching this, but i think this video shows how bad some of the cgi in the hobbit is! and i still dont get why they went with the soft focus type look in some of the hobbit, really offputting.

I've just been watching it again and it strikes me how beautifully the scenes from the two trilogies blend. The CGI that sticks out a mile is the scene that doesn't belong, from the video game.

it shows how much the cgi has advanced. But people are going to see what they expect to see, no matter what.

The CGI is amazing, the VFX videos show it...

The glowing of everything that's bright really doesn't help unfortunately, nor does the brightening of the image after rendering.

i disagree, and not just based on that video, the cgi is is not up to par in large parts of the hobbit, of course it looks good, but its hardly believable and doesnt hide itself well which vfx should. the elves in the barrel scenes look worse that legols in lotr and that was 10 years earlier.

It looks fine in the VFX reel, but the glowing and brightening make it far too obvious.

It's a shame the Hobbit films ended up looking so fake, even upon release, while their (superior) predecessors are still realistic and great looking to this day.

Did Gandalf tell Frodo that Thorin gave him a set of Mithreal rings? That's what I always thought he said. I was wondering about the rings, thinking "maybe in the EE," but of course Bilbo got a mithreal shirt. Maybe I'm not hearing right.
