Melkor and Ungoliant Can't Post

I'm reading The Silmarilion for the first time. For those who have read the book, did you think Ungoliant was going to eat Melkor? I did, and I waited in anticipation for the moment only to be disappointed when she did not.

I guess I never thought that [In reply to] Can't Post

He was #1 in all of Arda, after all. I was surprised she was even able to put him in so much peril that he needed balrogs to rescue him. I did wonder who/what else she was going to eat.

Yup! [In reply to] Can't Post

I hoped. I anticipated. I was enthusiastic. I shook. All over.

BUT THEN SHE DIDN'T!!!!!!! I was so mad! Melkor is horrible/was horrible. But I think that Ungoliant WOULD have, given the opportunity and if Melkor was caught off his guard.

What's worse? [In reply to] Can't Post

No [In reply to] Can't Post

No, I did not expect her to eat him. I was actually surprised at how close she came considering how powerful Melkor was. I feel like it would have been very anti-climatic though.
