Deception! Scandal! Middle-earth March Madness - Final Four Announced - Vote Today!

|
Middle-earth March Madness has been touched by scandal! When we tallied the votes in our Elite Eight round-up last night, we noticed the votes in The Hobbit division were suspiciously more than those of the other divisions. While yes, certain match-ups spur passionate participation, the numbers on this particular match-up were significantly different. So we dug a little bit deeper. As it turns out, one person managed to bypass the system and vote 2300 times!
As the commissioner of Middle-earth March Madness, I took it upon myself to resolve the issue. I converted those 2300 votes to 1 vote. I also reviewed any other multiple votes and converted those to a single vote. As a result, the winner of The Hobbit division for 2015 is.... Bilbo!
So we have our Final Four!
The Silmarillion division winner is, not too surprisingly, the creator of all existence, Eru Iluvatar. Eru will face off against Bilbo Baggins, fresh off an attempt to wipe him out of this entire tournament!
Coming out of The Lord of the Rings, non other than Gandalf! Can he easily sweep past The Others division winner, Hurin? Or will Hurin pull off the biggest upset of the year!
Stay tuned and vote!
Voting in this round will remain open until April 6th at 10pm ET. And oh yes, you can count us keeping a close eye on any potential cheaters out there!

Maybe there is a way next time for it to be set up that you can only vote one time. I love Thranduil as a character but by no means I would go that far to see him win. I'm happy that he won last year from what I've seen posted. I would like to see Bilbo win.

The oddest argument to me is the idea that one or two people stuffing a poll is being taken as a great slight against the character and against Lee Pace and is somehow destroying their reputations and those of everyone other fan. Huh? That's some serious over-identification going on there.
Like father, like son, I guess...the last time we had this sort of reaction to a Middle-earth character it was the Leggy-lovers drooling and flailing all over the boards after FOTR came out.

Verse 1 Introduction
He fought the spiders,
He found the ring,
A friend of strider,
The named of sting.
The riddle maker,
Who walks unseen,
The arkenstone taker,
In his coat of green.
Hobbit hole dweller,
Red book writer,
Great tale teller,
And goblin fighter.
The eleven king fooler,
Who escaped in a barrel,
Defeating the ruler.
And his wood elves feral.
Thranduil is beaten,
Bilbo already won,
There's been April fools cheating
But the battle is done!

So weep in profusely I penned a rhyme.
Tolkien truly was dead this time!
But in utter sorrow, I checked again!
The hobbit who journeyed through stream and fen,
Lives again alive and well,
They tricked the poll with some program (or spell)
And now again the hobbit walks,
Over shire roads of cobble stone rocks.
Eating, running, reading maps,
Freeing dwarves from spider traps!
My sorrow gone the joy won't pass!
Toast the hobbit raise your glass.
Verse 6 Message to the Cheater
A message to the traitor,
Where ever you are,
Being a hater,
will not get you far.
You cheated on an on line poll,
In doing so hurting both teams,
You betrayed the trust like a true troll,
the web discovered your schemes.
Today we stand both hobbits and elves,
Some in victory some in defeat,
To the tolling of sadness and victory bells,
You must go back to your seat.
Some are happy that Bilbo won,
Some morn the fallen elk rider,

make a big deal about storming off rarely want to leave. People who really want to leave just do it. Those who make a fuss want attention and sympathy and have people ask them not to go. They tend to feel compelled to come back and see if anyone has replied to them. And to argue the responses. And then they have to come back to see if anyone replied again...
