Who are those people in TTT? Can't Post

Hey everybody!

I'm watching TTT right now and figured I'd ask before I forget again...

Who/what are the people that Saruman recruits to help him attack Rohan supposed to be? You know...the guys with the really messy hair and rotten teeth and in the EE one of them says "We will fight for Saruman *slices hand open* We will die for Saruman!"

Are they supposed to be the "wild men" or something?

There's hope for the hopeless, and all those who've strayed
Come sit at the table, come taste the grace
There's rest for the weary, rest that endures
Earth has no sorrow, that Heaven can't cure.

So lay down your burdens, lay down your shame
All who are broken, lift up your face
Oh wanderer come home, you're not too far
So lay down your hurt, lay down your heart
Come as you are.

Dunlendings [In reply to] Can't Post

The Dunlendings who were driven out of Rohan and the White Mountains by the Rohirrim were the wild hill-men who Saruman set against the folk of Rohan. Some setlled in the north of Eriador and integrated with the other Mannish folk there, but those who remained in Dunland kept to their primative way-of-life and held on to their hatred of the Rohirrim.

I know one of them [In reply to] Can't Post

He is a very good fisherman and a brilliant guitar player, and he is pretty wild.

It should be said [In reply to] Can't Post

that the whole business of Dunland is much clearer in the book than the film.

I sort of remember that [In reply to] Can't Post

I've only read LOTR once in late 2013 to early 2014 but since Otaku mentioned it, I think I do remember the stuff about Dunland from the book. I think I may need to find an excuse to read it again though so I can refresh my memory.Smile
