It's because [In reply to] Can't Post

He just didn't have enough time to tell the full story.

Actually, more to the point [In reply to] Can't Post

What happened to him in the next 3 films, seen as PJ is very keen to tell us that the six films do move on from each other and should be seen as a sixtext. You'd think that someone would mentione him or he would have had some role to play in the War of the Ring. I'm afraid this is one of the drawbacks of doing prequeals. Sometimes, plotlines or characters just don't fit.

They missed an opportunity [In reply to] Can't Post

With all the license PJ and co took with the book this was one addition they could have done so much more with. After seeing him spend the entire DOS with the same bird scat in his beard I had a hope that Saruman would lecture him into cleaning up and looking like a Maia for the finale. Kind of reminded me of Billy Barty from Willow so that's a big fail. I guess they had to have room for the sand worms from Dune and the plot critical love triangle Sly

Hm [In reply to] Can't Post

That is because you cannot do the characters justice with only two movies. It would need a trilogy to really do that.

Oh... wait...

"I am afraid it is only too likely to be true what you say about the critics and the public. I am dreading the publication for it will be impossible not to mind what is said. I have exposed my heart to be shot at." J.R.R. Tolkien

We all have our hearts and minds one way or another invested in these books and movies. So we all mind and should show the necessary respect.

EE? [In reply to] Can't Post

For real though, we may get more in the EE. Beorn's role was greatly improved in the DOS EE. Maybe the brown wizard's loose end will get tied up in the EE.

Still hoping... [In reply to] Can't Post

... to see an explanation as to why he sat out the much more significant events of LOTR in the BOTFA EE. Some actual closure for Tauriel's character would be nice as well.
