Android: Friends Furever I love this whole campaign "Be together. Not the same." which shows people who seem quite different getting along really well. But this one, besides being adorable cute, has a song by Roger Miller whom I really like. And I really like his songs from Disney's Robin Hood - which is where Odallay is from. And they show clips from Disney's Fox and the Hound which was my son's favorite book on tape when he was young. He wore that tape out listening to it. That magpie must be a pet, right? It was interesting that it rolled over on its back a lot. Do birds do that or did it pick it up from the dogs? thanks for the link. Whenever I hit a video like this on youtube I can spend an hour watching suggested videos that are similar. I watched a bunch about foxes last night.

That clip reminds me so much of our first pet magpie. She was lovely, and played with our dog and cats in the same way as the one in the clip. She was very gentle and had a great sense of fun. She would get into the kitchen sink for a bath if she could. Unfortunately she was squashed on the road. Another one we had was the complete opposite. He was attached to one person in the family, indifferent to the rest of us, apart from my sister, who he hated with a passion. He would hide outside and wait for her, ignoring everyone else, and then charge her and attack her feet. He would aim for the soft skin on the top of her feet between the toes, grab, and twist. Awful creature. One time out riding I found an injured magpie so I brought it home. Mum thought I had been in an accident because I arrived home with my face all covered in blood from the magpie pecking at my face. (It was a bit of a juggle managing a silly horse and a wild magpie). We did managed to rehabilitate that one and release it back into the wild.

that it is a pet/rescue bird. We had one at my cousins farm, he'd injured his wing so my cousin nursed him back to health. He decided he liked the attention and stuck around, he'd feed from your hand, would follow family members around the farm and "help" with our chores lol. He even taught himself to knock on the sliding door to let us know he was there. Once it was opened, he'd hop inside and sit on the back of one of the kitchen chairs and would chatter at us. I've never seen a wild bird roll over on it's back like that, so I'm also guessing that it's learnt that from playing with the dogs

The rolling is a normal magpie behaviour

I've seen wild ones doing it, as well as pet ones. Here's some more info. The paragraph below is from the article: Also, as anyone who has kept a pet magpie will attest, they can be playful, especially when young. This often involves rolling on the ground on their backs with their siblings and occasionally also with their parents, in a similar manner to that practised by keas. Various objects may be used as playthings.

especially when snuggling or interacting with her human family. Those photos are quite amazing BTW. I had never heard of such a thing. I read that the Eurasian magpie has 'self' recognition (ie: mirror test) as well as memory and apparent grief behaviors. Impressive.
