this article boils down to the fact they gave him some dialogue, which i suupose i agree with, i would add that james nesbitt ais n experienced and well rounded actor did a great job. i must admit, i think the better dwarves, dwalin ,balin and bofur and i suppose throin happen to be the more well rounded actors. casting wasnt great for the rest of the dwarves IMO.

The rest of the dwarves weren't even given a chance! Especially with films 2 and 3, any dwarf that wasn't named Thorin, Dwalin, Balin, Kili, or Bofur had little to nothing to do at all!
"In a hole in the ground there lived a hobbit." "Do you wish me a good morning, or do you mean that it is a good morning whether I want it or not, or that you feel good this morning, or that it is a morning to be good on?" "Thorin and Company at your service!" "Stand by the grey stone when the thrush knocks, and the setting sun with the last light of Durin's Day will shine upon the keyhole." "A box without hinges, key, or lid / Yet golden treasure inside is hid." "I come from under the hill, and under hills and over hills my path has led. And through the air. I am he that walks unseen." "My armor is like tenfold shields, my teeth are like swords, my claws spears, the shock from my tail a thunderbolt, my wings a hurricane, and my breath death!" "If more of us valued your ways - food and cheer above hoarded gold - it would be a merrier world." "You're a very fine person, Mr. Baggins, and I'm very fond of you, but you're only quite a little fellow in a wide world after all."

Some Fine points... but Bom would like to add that Bifur has Already Shined alot & Had his small Sub-plot Already. Finding the Anthelas saved Kili He almost got killed doing it. SSOoo.. maybe Bofur supports in conversation Ori giving Bilbo the portrait.. Gloin getting a New Ear Trumpet. Bifur having the AXE re-moved, & the Erebor Toy Shop? Bombur finding the Vast Community Kitchens.. Gloin becoming the Accountant to count out the Gold to give to the Men of Dale. Not sure what Nori needs to do...? ..Making funny remarks all the Time. pulling together the remaining Dwarves like the Glue that is Now ..Missing without The Three..? Jus' thoughts , nothing more bom

Rabble-Rousing in Rivendell with his Song... Ruining the Formal Dinner of the Elves... Likely it was his Idea to Wash Up in The Amazing Elf Fountain...& Skewering The Sanctity of the Secret Valley? IF it wasn't for the Infinite Patience of Elrond they would have been Thown OUT on their Little Hairy ASSES... Long before reading the MAP by Moonlight.. bom

.....none of the things you mentioned about the other dwarves happen in the movie at all. And I very much doubt we'll see any of those things happen even in the EE. Where are you getting all that from?

...because of his personality. He struck me as such a delightful, unique sort of dwarf. But to be honest, my favourite dwarves by the end were Fili and especially Oin! (Balin was another dwarf I had loved through all three films though--I blame it on Ken Stott. )

Oin is great! It's hard to choose a favorite, but if I had to, it'd be Kili. The overeager youthful thing was just so much fun to see on a dwarf character. Balin, Fili, Bofur, Bifur and Dwalin are all such close seconds, though. I didn't think I'd like the Company nearly as much as the Fellowship. But now I do! I might actually like them *more* than the Fellowship. The films gave the company as a whole more of a "heart" than you get from reading the book. That's the main reason I love these films. Even characters that aren't fleshed out at all in the book (Dori, for instance) get their charm and lovableness. Bofur certainly was a standout from the ensemble. He's a character you'd want to hang out with in real life.
