So Gandalf had a pretty hard time taking out this monster. In the end it claimed his life. But what about Saruman the white? He was much more powerful than Gandalf the grey, so could he have a slightly bigger advantage?
Azog and Bolg. That is all I can say.............

I think that the Balrog of Moria would take this contest. Saruman's own arrogance would do him in.

There’s no doubt all that running up and down the stairs of Orthanc would help condition Saruman for the battle on The Endless Stairs. Still, the outcome seems inevitable: Saruman was beside himself with wrath. "I was once a servant of the Secret Fire, former wielder of the Flame of Anor. The dark fire will not avail you, Flame of Udun! What are the Mines of Moira but a crumbling chimney where weak backdrafts suck in the reek, and their fading embers roll on the floor among the ash? Go back to the shadow. You shall not….” *sizzle* *snap* *crackle* *pop*
****************************************** No Orc, No Orc!! It's a wonderful town!!! Mount Doom blew up, And the Black Tower's down!! The orcs all fell in a hole in the ground! No Orc, No Orc!! It's a heckuva town!!! -Lord of the Rings: The Musical, music by Leonard Bernstein, lyrics by Betty Comden and Adolph Green

Just because Saruman was a bit of a d**k, doesn't make him not very hard. He was the chief of the Istari and a ring maker. He was more powerful than Gandalf the Grey. It wouldn't be an easy fight, but I don't see how anyone can come to any other objective conclusion than Saruman winning this one. He might die in the act, but he would certainly have won in the end. And very likely have survived. Cheers Padster
