It's Friday, so it's time for Fiesta!

Hullo TORn friends, and welcome to Fiesta Friday! What exciting things did you do this week, or do you have planned for the weekend? Grab a virtual nibble from the Fiesta buffet and, of course, order up a drink, and let us know! While you're at it, now that the LOTR and Hobbit movies are over, the TORn founders and Sr. Staff are putting our sights to upgrading/improving the site, including features and functionality of the Home Page and, yes, the message boards. If you have any suggestions, please chime in in this thread (sticky at the top of Main). *kicks juke box* "Crazy" by Patsy Cline starts to play. Have a crazy, fun weekend, everyone!

'Twas in the single-digits (Fahrenheit) here this morning, and it's still bit on the chilly side - some hot chocolate would do nicely, if you have it handy, please, Altaira! It snowed all day yesterday...literally...my "menfolk" finally went outside at 4 p.m. to clear off the driveway, got back in the house, looked back out...and it was all covered over again... But today is sunny and snow-free! Will be enjoying hubby's Christmas present to me, tonight: tickets to Beauty and the Beast at the Shubert in New Haven (only an hour's drive away). Now, I'll be imagining "Bard" in the role of Gaston...heh! Has your area also had record or near-record snowfalls this winter?

Not much planned; just a quiet weekend here (which is precisely how I like it!). :) I'll have a Winter Usual, please; thanks, and I hope you have a great weekend, Altaira! :)

This weekend is Mulch delivery weekend

Yes, I know that sounds funny given the 85 feet of snow on the ground in most of the US but that will not stop our intrepid Boy Scouts. By the end of the day on Staurday they will have delivered 7 semi tractor trailer's worth of bagged mulch (3Cuft/bag) to the surrounding area. It's a huge operation for the 40 or so scouts and their families in our troop. Mr. Ioreth is Mulch Czar (thank goodness this is his last year) and I am chief go-fer for the day. We've been getting emails from folks telling us they have shoveled an area clear for their delivery. Hard to think of cleaning out flower beds and covering them with a nice top coat of mulch when you can't see them! I've seen some of the littlest scouts work so hard. One year the ground was saturated with the recent rain and the kids were working in mud up to their ankles in some places. They had to be really careful how they put the bags on the scouts shoulders. If they let it drop too hard they could drill one of those little guys right into the mud. Sunday is Ben Gay Day. Today is go-get-the-rental-trucks day so I'll be fighting ski traffic going west into the Appalachians to get to the rental place. I think I'll have a nice strong coffee. It's going to be a long weekend.

Today it has been around 12 C; sorry, don't know Fahrenheit for that. The crocuses have opened out in the warmth, and spring flowers all around (I have a selection of sweet mini-daffodils) are appreciating it. Our weather has been yo-yo-ing between cold and mild recently. My little area has only had one evening of snow this winter though, which melted the next morning. Other parts of the UK, particularly up north, have been hammered! I have my second cold in under four weeks, so am sulking a bit. How come we can send a probe to Mars, photograph deep space etc, but can't cure the common cold?!* Lots of tea being drunk! I'm babysitting tonight, and will be watching BBC's 'The Musketeers' with a warm dog on my feet. Sounds good. Happy weekend, all!

I guess the bright side is that you'll have very happy, green plants and trees this spring! March is usually Colorado's heaviest snow fall month, but we broke the record for snow this February, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Mother Nature just got it out of it's system early. We've seen B&B on-stage and loved it. Have fun!

In fact, here's a big thermos of it that you can take in the car. That sounds like quite the production, but it also sounds like it's been well-organized and is in good hands. Here's wishing you and the scouts the least amount of mud possible!

Monday is Taranaki Anniversary Day, when the ship the Amelia Thompson brought the first English settlers to New Plymouth - so of course our long, dry summer is being broken by heavy rainfall. Yesterday (Friday) had a spectacular downpour at midday that was impossible to see through, and we're getting more of the same today. My excitement will be getting the supermarketing done before it arrives. Also we're farewelling my nephew tonight with a family dinner. He's off to England for his overseas experience. It *was* going to be a barbecue dinner but with this weather it'll be an indoor affair. Happy weekend everyone!

At least, for most of the US states - I can't wait to have more daylight at the end of the day (I am not a morning person, so won't notice when it's still dark LOL). Don't forget to "Spring Ahead" tomorrow night! As for plans, I'm going to Twisted Flicks tonight with a couple of friends. A local performing arts center hosts, where they show an old B movie with the sound off, and an improv troop makes up the dialog and sound effects. I saw one a couple of months ago and it was pretty funny. Tonight's movie is a never released 80s version of the Fantastic Four. Should be entertaining. It's supposed to get up to ~60F this weekend, so will be looking for outdoor activities before going out to dinner tomorrow night. Apologies to those of you under piles of snow. I'll try and absorb some warmth for you. I got called for jury duty, so will be at that for a least 2 days next week, and possibly longer if I get picked for a jury. At least will probably get lots of reading done - might even start in on my new copy of The Silmarillion! Have a great weekend everyone!

just spent the evening babysitting (well, small boy and toddler-sitting really) so am now enjoying toast and marmite and a cuppa before bed. Lemon and honey (and of course a tot of whisky) sounds good. A friend has also told me about something called 'Vicks First Defence', which I must explore!
