That's why I suggested "fan edit" in the title [In reply to] Can't Post

Doesn't that term pretty much exclude ownership?

The problem is identifying Goldeneye's from the many other fan edits... [In reply to] Can't Post

Lots of people have made fan edits and they all have different titles, if you just call it The Hobbit: Fan Edit, then it doesn't really help saying what kind of edit it is. Goldeneye, like many editors, doesn't want to attach their name to the edit, so makes sense it has to be called something more easily identifiable.

To be honest, I'm fine with J.R.R. Tolkien's The Hobbit. I think the only ones complaining are those who just don't like fan edits in general. The problem is you don't want confusion with the other 'J.R.R. Tolkien's The Hobbit' http://youtu.be/KRqbdpbDwVo

Except nearly all fan edits have nicks attached to them [In reply to] Can't Post

I can't even think of one notable fan edit that isn't clearly identifiable by or affiliated with the name/moniker of an editor. Not in the title per se, but with any relevant information around it. It's just my opinion, but it seems reasonable to give some indicator of what the thing actually is in the name, as you would for a song remix. For example "The Phantom Edit" is clear about what it is: An edit. Just calling it J.R.R Tolkiens The Hobbit says absolutely nothing and could also be potentially confusing.

I think you're right about the name... [In reply to] Can't Post

Just "Fan edit" wouldn't suffice, but something similar to "The Pantom Edit" but relevant to The Hobbit would be good. "An Unexpected Edit" is an obvious choice (although it's not all that Unexpected, maybe Long-expected) Otherwise...

I'm with BlackFox [In reply to] Can't Post

I think There and Back Again: A Hobbit's Tale is the best of the six titles you listed.
