Though I don't think anyone would be crazy enough to join me, so I'd probably have to play all the parts myself.

Lately the snow here has been pretty firm, so I walk on the snow banks and hope to feel like Legolas for a short while. It's fun when I'm able to do it! Oh come on, I know everyone else has done it too.

When my dad used to plow our driveway with a tractor when I was a kid, he'd concentrate the snow in one or two big piles, which my sisters and I would then turn into a multiple-room snow tunnel house/fort. Brings back very fond memories.

Skills: -Occasional ability to exhibit elf-like qualities when walking on snow. -Could pass as an elf if I had a costume. .... .... -Willingness to acquire more elf-like skills. So, can I come play?

When I was little we had a big pile of snow in back of our house, and my brother and I dug out a large cave. Sadly, Mum didn't think it was safe (and I'm sure she was right...) and made us knock in the roof. If we had that much snow, I'd probably do plenty of climbing on snow mountains as well. It has indeed been a wild winter, but still, I can't believe how much snow Boston got!!!

We climbed on top of a huge snowpile/ snow drift two lots down from us. It was high enough to touch the telephone wires. I did see this during this year's November snow in Buffalo and thought it was petty clever!

I think the guy dressed as a Yeti is my favorite - hilarious! I voted for digging out tunnels and climbing to the top of the biggest snow pile, but I applaud the creativity of the other options too.

When we had a giant snowfall eight years ago

I got a bunch of silk flowers and stuck them into the snowdrifts in front of my house to make a spring garden. That winter felt malevolent to me. My dad and my father-in-law slipped on the ice, and we were in the hospital with both of them at the same time, running from one room to another. And the kids at our church came out of their Sunday school class and found the body of a woman frozen in a snowdrift near the playground. She'd died a month earlier and the snow was only then starting to melt enough to reveal the body. (The minister was great: he got all the kids together in the sanctuary the next Sunday and told them what a great thing those kids had done, giving closure to the family of the woman.)

The trails get beaten down and it's easy to walk four feet above the ground. You have to duck under the branches. It always amuses me to see the trail signs down near my feet. Uncle Baggins, who is not really a fan but who watched the movies with me, almost always comments about feeling like an elf.

Ever since the snow storm Aunt Dora mentions in her reply, my kids have build a sled run off our back deck after every big-enough snow storm - the last one being this past weekend. There may also have been some jumping off the roof... (my Hobbit, not Beamer)

Our camp went on a late June hike to Bluebird lake, on 5 feet of snow. It was so exhausting walking uphill on that hard, slippery stuff (like walking on Styrofoam, sort of) we never did get there. But it was in some ways the most gorgeous hike I've ever been on, what with the deep blue sky and glowing white snow.
