Do you play a musical instrument?

If yes, which one? If not, would you like to learn, and what would you choose? For myself, I LOVE to sing, and I also play piano, organ, and soprano recorder; and someday I'd also like to learn violin and flute.

I would have liked to respond with just a simple 'no' without having to qualify it.

I play piano, harpsichord and handbells and I also sing. I'm the elementary sco chorus accompanist and I sing alto but lately with this cold I'm a tenor. . I haven't layed handbells and harpsichord in years but I'd love to get back to both of I can find them.

My mother tried (not all that successfully) to teach me when I was a child, and I hated it. But my kids started to learn (from a teacher) several years ago and I found that helping them learn caused me to learn enough sight reading and piano that I could play their pieces. So I took some lessons for about a year and can manage easy classical pieces, movie music for piano, and the like. It is fun when I make time for it.

I wish I could share some of the old Lord of the Rings parody videos I recorded, but I had to remove them and didn't have back-ups

I used to play the trombone, at a good(ish) level. I haven't picked it up in years. The outer slide was stuck the last time I got it out of the loft. I could probably string a tune together, but I've been saying for years that I'd like to have lessons again. Have we got enough people for a TORchestra yet?

I'll occasionally pick it up and try to play, but my chops are pretty bad now. I think if I practiced a little I wouldn't be too terrible. We've probably got enough players to start a TORn orchestra.

I play piano, viola, fiddle, guitar, harp, recorder, tin-can banjo, celestaphone, strumstick, harmonica, etc. I can usually get a tune out of pretty much any instrument, though it might not be very good playing. Uncle Baggins got me an oud for Christmas; he found it at a thrift store. I'm having a great time playing with it. Here's my youtube channel with all kinds of goofing around. In particular I recorded this harp piece for my beloved TORnsibs.

You were supposed to ask him what kind of music you could play on a shoehorn, and his answer was "Footnotes."

it would be really fun to put together a mix of TORn folks playing the same tune. I've seen that done, but don't know how to do it.

... and I've also played violin, piano, handbells, a bit of cello, a bit of recorder (soprano and alto), and a tiny bit of guitar. It sounds like a lot, but the only ones I've truly mastered are voice (my undergraduate degree) and handbells. I'm not great at bilateral integration, which is crucial for success on most instruments. But give me a coloratura passage when I'm in full voice - that, I can handle.

I just bought a new piano! I played as a child and up until a few years back always had one but the last one died as in half the notes couldn't be tuned anymore as it was so old. So in the January sales I took the plunge and bought one plus a stack of scores and love playing it again, I also played cello and had voice training, there's nothing more satisfying than being part of a choir.
