Runner up goes to Thranduil's. As much as I appreciate the workmanship on Arwens, Galadriel's, Elrond's and Gil-galad's, to me they feel more like headpieces rather than crowns. Aragorn's looks like a crown but I find it very plain. Thranduil's seems like a crown and I liked how it reflected various elements of nature. But Thorin's just says: now *this* is a crown. I imagine it would weigh more to be in proportion to how much heavier dwarves are. A non-dwarf might not even be able to wear it comfortably. I like the style and the proportions. And love those two points that extend down the sides to the cheekbones!

The elf crown´s is too small more like tiaras.Aragon looks so plain, old and colorless.Thranduil's are fine with the leaves but it does not shine and it may not be him appear like a king it does not look so regal. It would suit more a little lower rank Royals. And Thorins is big like a crown it has the shine and is most beautiful.

as I really like how it continues around the back. Arwen's looks cheap and tacky (and easy to break), and while I appreciate the look of Thranduil's I think the cheek pieces would itch like hell.

...but I personally like the nature-oriented curvy lines of the Elvish designs (yes, elf-centric, i admit it). Thorin's suited him well, heavy, geometric, Dwarvish. Still liking the twigs....

If only because I like the idea of a different crown for each season.

I love love love Arwen's crown too, and Thorin's is awesome (though neither of my sisters like it for some reason). But Aragorn's is my permanent favourite.

Arguably, Thranduil and Aragorn are the only two with real crowns.

The other Elves are wearing head-dresses, but they aren't crowns, and none of them is a King or Queen. Thorin is wearing a helmet.

Aragorn's isn't what I had imagined, and at first I didn't like it, but once I got past the fact that they didn't get my input on the design, I decided I quite liked it. Galadriel's is simple and beautiful, very Elvish.

...is also. It is just a somewhat unusual shape. This image (of the crown not on his head) makes clear it is not a helmet. https://pbs.twimg.com/.../BtyEYKJIgAA5c9C.png And I like the design, wuth the ravens and the geometric element. But Thranduil's is my favorite, for being made out of the natural and seasonal materials of the woods, and looking so amazing despite its simplicity.

I wonder why I don't love Thranduil's. I love the idea of it, but somehow it just doesn't do it for me. Maybe it will grow on me the way Aragorn's did. Hmmm.

It hit such a satisfying nerve with me, to finally see the crown of the King, onscreen, after reading descriptions for so long. Thorin's crown is definitely a Dwarvish work of art, and Arwen's is amazing and delicate...I actually bought a candle topper that reminded me of Thranduil's crown. So maybe out of pure artistry his would be second.

If I had to pick one to wear myself it would be his. The crown of Thorin is pretty cool, and I like Aragorn as my third choice. As for Arwen...she looks pretty damn good in that crown! I'd pick that one for my lady.

In general it seems that if Elves are going to wear anything that could be construed as a crown, or some sort of "I'm important" headgear, they usually go for something beautiful and discrete. But Thranduil's is very in-your-face, I'm-the-one-in-charge-and-don't-you-forget-it! Or so it reads to me. I thought he'd run away with the poll, actually; I'm pleased to see the strong Aragorn contingent. There's no doubt that's a king's crown.

...that it is made of twigs, berries, and leaves, which anyone can gather in the woods. The more typical "in your face" ostentatious crown is made of large amounts of precious metals and gems that only the very important, in charge types could afford.

of the crown of Thranduil in close-up: http://screencapped.net/...01#top_display_media He does have another crown, the one he wears when riding to war, with his armor, that is made of precious metals (and has generally speaking a lot of similarity to the other ELven crowns, of Galadriel and Elrond). But it is not the one he is wearing the picture you posted to start the thread.

but the stills I've seen sure look like it's made of metal wrought to evoke twigs & leaves. Which seems very Elven to me, and makes sense, because a crown of real twigs would not be likely to hold its shape for long, and he's wearing the same one in the first movie in the scene where he leads the Elves away from Dale.
