In the Trilogy films and The Hobbit films, it is obvious that there is something different about these movies and how they were made. This lack of an elitist attitude is probably the main reason why these movies, well, just feel different than most movies.

There is something about these movies... I know there are scenes that I don't particularly like but I have to think about it for a second to remember which ones. Why? Because the rest of the movie makes me grin. It makes me cry. It makes me want to wander around in SPJ's version of Tolkien's Middle Earth, looking for adventures of my own. That lavish care about all the details that was shared by every single person on the production is what comes across to me on screen. That comes from the top down. It's not something that can be forced. It is something that is shared - a common goal for the good of all. Starting with that beautiful ceremony that welcomed the dawn and these new actors to New Zealand and ending... where? Maybe never ending, since we have the movies with us forever.
Thank you for pointing it out. SPJ is someone I think would be comfortable at my kitchen table, chatting Tolkien over a nice cuppa. Maybe that's why I like these movies.
