Silvan Elf [In reply to] Can't Post

Tauriel was meant to be a Wood-elf, going back to the character's original conception as Itaril. She was supposed to represent the view of the commoners among the Elven folk. Of course she was also a prodigy who was fostered by the Elvenking as though she were the little sister of Legolas, rather undermining the original intent.

Apparently, Tolkien ultimately decided that the Wood-elves of Rhovanion were a branch of the Telari that abandoned the Great Journey, rather than Avari who arrived later. The Hobbit is a bit ambiguous on the subject.

"The Great Scaly One protects us from alien invaders and ourselves with his fiery atomic love. It can be a tough love - the “folly of man” and all that - but Godzilla is a fair god.

"Godzilla is totally accepting of all people and faiths. For it is written that liberal or conservative, Christian or Muslim or Jew, straight or gay, all people sound pretty much the identical as they are crushed beneath his mighty feet."
- Tony Isabella, The First Church of Godzilla (Reform)
