using 'l's and underlines and the underlines didn't survive to the final version of the post - sorry 'bout that. And there's nothing nefarious or untoward about it - it's natural that families tend to stick together, somewhat natural for the kids to go into the family business (less so in modern times, perhaps). I just find it interesting that Tolkien included that bit of realism in his work - 'interesting' in the 'wow, he did pay attention to realistic detail, even layers deep in the stories he crafted' sense.

I didn’t mean that there was anything untoward about it – sorry. It’s interesting that if we go back to the ‘beginning’ and bring it forward everybody is related even though dozens or hundreds of generations have passed. That's why I mentioned Aragorn and Arwen being related (ah, only somewhat tongue-in-cheek). True for us humans too, depending on one’s religious preference.
