Walk to Rivendell - and Beyond! For January 15 AND 22 Can't Post

The journey's begun, and the Hobbits are in good spirits, starting the day late and eating good dinners by the campfire. Ah, if only they know what lay ahead of them... But, hey, they have each other, right? And so do we!

How go your journeys?

My progress:
Miles covered this week: 14
Cumulative miles: 25
Goal: Bag End to Rivendell

I'm traveling on an uppy-downy road this week with Frodo and the gang. I'm trying really hard not to think about next month, when cookie season hits. I'll get some miles out of it, with Beamer and her fellow Girl Scouts. And chaperoning cookie sellers is a bit like Merry's job keeping the Hobbits organized - at least, I'll tell myself that, for motivation!

Ok, now I'm really in Tookland [In reply to] Can't Post

Hadn't figured out how to calculate the miles correctly last time. That's okay--I I don't want the journey to end too soon! A leisurely stroll through the Shire suits me just fine. Could still look back and see the last few lanterns lit in Hobbiton before I finished for the day.

We are plain quiet folk and have no use for adventures. Nasty disturbing uncomfortable things! Make you late for dinner!

Rain, rain go away... [In reply to] Can't Post

Still raining here, although we had one really nice day this week. Right now it looks like we are heading into a washed-out weekend, though.

Miles covered this week: 27
Cumulative miles: 52
Goal: Bag End to Rivendell and beyond...

It seems I have walked a bit too far south among the trees...

Cookie Traction!!! :D [In reply to] Can't Post

Yeah... those Girl Scout Cookies are motivators, fersher! For Beamer and you to run around taking orders and delivering... and for me to walk those calories off ;) But they're AEWSOME!

My days are busy as usual, but I'm having great fun! I keep seeing sibbies on the Road, and that definitely makes the journey a BLAST!

The Hobbits and I have just dodged some stranger on a HUGE black horse! I think that Rider has a sinus infection or allergies... I just wanted to hand him my hankie and quit the snuffling.

Miles covered: 20 miles 1/15/15
Cumulated miles: 42
CHALLENGE: The Lord of the Rings Walk with the Fellowship Challenge!
GOAL: Walk to Rivendell and stay at the Last Homely House – 485 miles

Thanks so much for taking such great care of us Arandiel! :D See ya on the Road Everyone!

*sigh* I love the Shire [In reply to] Can't Post

I don't blame you one little bit! However, if you make it to Tookland (stated in last week's update) and are looking back at the lights, you walked at least 5 miles and as many as 7.5 (according to the chart). So I think you should add that to your current mileage and keep on truckin'!!! Those last 5+ miles will come in very handy when you get towards the end of the walk ;) TOTALLY!

Well done!!! See you on the Road!

Rain, rain go away! [In reply to] Can't Post

A little rain is a good thing... but constant isn't fun! So, you're not only getting wet, you're walking too far south :( Why don't they put up some signs, for Pete's sake! Although... it's a very pretty place to get lost in ;)

Have a wonderful week!!!

I hadn't figured out how to use the mileage charts correctly [In reply to] Can't Post

so I'd really only just left the lane to walk along the hedgerows--hadn't even got to the bridge yet. So the eight miles was my total for the week. If only I'd had elf eyes I would have seen Hobbiton (and the World) were still ahead!

I indulged my Baggins side yesterday and took the day off from travel to throw a small but Long Expected party. Noodles and stew and Tiramisu, cider, a little red wine and a bit of bread to soak up the gravy. We filled the corners up to bursting! All the more reason to grab my walking stick and get back on the road this morning. My Took side is stirring!

Growth after all is not so much a matter of change as of ripening, and what alters most is the degree of clarity with which we see one another. -Edith Pargeter

WtR post for Thursday, January 22 [In reply to] Can't Post

This does happen some times...

We're still on page 1, so we'll update our progress here, rather than start a new thread this week.

My progress:
Miles covered this week: 17
Cumulative miles: 42
Goal: Bag End to Rivendell

Wakey, wakey, Pippin! I know all that excitement with the Black Rider must have worn him out, but he's giving new meaning to the word 'sleepwalking'. Poor, exhausted Hobbit. Me, I'm happy that I got a few more miles in this week than last. I like little victories - they add up over time.
