The DoS domestic number is after 42 days. BotFA has only had 31.

I went with the 17th, not the number of days.

So the DoS domestic number should be right. But i couldn't find an international number for that week-end, so i went with the week-end after, to err on the "plus" side. EDIT: The DoS domestic number is off. Should be 248,524,802. Not sure, and can't find, where i got 250,178,924. Apologies.

That number for DoS is from 1/23, not 1/17

Plus, DoS opened the week before BotFA did, so you are off by 11 days.

Replaced by American Sniper (guess some films are getting the Oscar bump re attendance.....?) and lots of shows for Taken 3 (even if the reviews for that one are probably more fun than the movie).

I'll have to see if I can catch it in central London. Taken 3 has also got something like 11 on RT, which I'm sure is an exaggeration of how bad it is…

...is total not just international. With China to come add another $100m so al up around $950m; and if we were to adjust for the high US$ then BoFA will be comparable to AUJ if not better.

Definitely doesn't look like it will be a 1 billion buck movie, and probably won't top DOS. It sure isn't going down with the bang I thought it would, but when movies like Transformers are making so much money one might think they are "The Godfather" quality, the mystery of cinema never ceases to amaze me. The Hobbit films do not equal LotR for me, but I still figured the final installment would top the other two, or at least DoS. Very surprising.

These films are all getting their $1 billion mostly from markets outside the US, with US totals making less that 1/3 of the total. And said totals, for the purposes of these comparisons, are calculated in US dollars. This makes a relative comparison of the films, fairly dependent on the performance of the US dollar in international exchange rates. This year, the dollar is stronger than it has been, making "international" box office look weak when computed in dollar terms.
