I love how the last installment involved alot of Dragon Sickness, very meta as it must have been this who was in control of Peter Jackson when he made this mess. Now that alot of people have seen it, surely there's others who didn't like it? Because really, this last installment has few, if any, good moments. But alot of apalling ones. Thorins dark voice for comedic purposes? Oh well, how else would we know he's evil? Legolas up to 11, trying to have some kind of epic war whilst having tons of silly things spread out trough. I feel bad for Tolkien.
like butter scraped over too much bread.

I'm happy to inform you I love the film and have seen it seven times now. Moreover, I'm no 'yes woman', by any stretch of the imagination, but I'll have you know that I love the acting (particularly that of Richard Armitage as Thorin and Martin Freeman as Bilbo), the visuals (which I think are the best I've seen in any film), the emotional content and characters such as Thranduil, Bard and Smaug. Note also that I feel there are a few minor flaws in the film, as there are in any creative work, but they do not trouble me because I love most of it so much. I'm looking forward to seeing it again, and to the EE. Thanks for providing your opinion, and I'm sorry you cannot enjoy the film.

...because, despite my enjoyment of these films, I could certainly list off a number of quibbles (great and small) that I have with them. But the OP does his best to insult so many people on this board, that I rather feel inclined to proudly defend every last millisecond of this trilogy.
"The danger with any movie that does as well as this one does is that the amount of money it's making and the number of awards that it's got becomes almost more important than the movie itself in people's minds. I look at that as, in a sense, being very much like the Ring, and its effect on people. You know, you can kind of forget what we were doing, if you get too wrapped up in that." - Viggo Mortensen

In certain quarters, and find it both oddly satisfying and amusing. The other thing which does make me chuckle, on a slight tangent, is observing the ratings threads where, following the most excoriating vituperation, I often find posters rating the films a single point less than I do. Perhaps I have an unusual sense of humour.

do you have to insult the people in here who enjoyed the film? You found it flawed. Say so; but, don't imply that we are somehow inadequate and inferior because we didn't see the film the same way you did.

Not at all. We don't just swallow anything PJ spits out. If you haven't noticed this board is full of people criticizing certain aspects of the movie: subplots, (missing) characters, visuals (cgi), mistakes, missing scenes, movie length, music, continuity etc. have all been discussed. So basically everything. There were both people who liked and disliked some of these things. But i believe many think there is still (very) much to enjoy about the movie. I for one have many issues with botfa but unlike you i do think there are many good moments so yes i do like the movie.

...with everyone else. You seem to have made this thread purely to insult anyone that enjoys the movie. Why the Smaug avatar if you hate the movies so much? I didn't love the third installment, but I also follow one golden rule on these message boards: You don't have to share someone's opinion to respect it. Maybe you should keep that mind. Just because people have different tastes than you does not mean they're somehow below you. As for you opinion on the MOVIE I almost agree. It's not quite as bad as you make out, there were some great moments in there. But I expected more from the final installment. It was mostly too messy for me, I hope the EE fixes the major issues but the last two EEs didn't work for me, so I'm skeptical. Pet peeve, 'alot' isn't a word.

it's an excellent piece of film-making, with some moments that are as good as anything seen so far on the screen. It's also largely in the spirit of the original books. The issues, which are mainly things that have to be there, due to bad decisions in the previous two films, have much less effect on the film than do the many strengths. Those are just facts. I know that because they are my opinion, and I'm right.

Thorins dark voice for comedic purposes?
You seem to have a different sense of humour to anyone I know if that's what you think. Perhaps you would like to elucidate further on what you mean... unless you simply mean to attempt to provoke?

... and parts of it I downright dislike. And I discuss my issues here in several threads. But I prefer to do so in a respectful and constructive manner, so this thread is not for me.
"I am afraid it is only too likely to be true what you say about the critics and the public. I am dreading the publication for it will be impossible not to mind what is said. I have exposed my heart to be shot at." J.R.R. Tolkien We all have our hearts and minds one way or another invested in these books and movies. So we all mind and should show the necessary respect.
