Whoever was the stylist on that movie [In reply to]

deserved an award. Lee Pace should use him/her for some of his public appearances. Lee was the bright, shinning light of that film.

LOL forever young... [In reply to]

... just like our Elven King right?

I'm just glad the King (and his son) are well withing a suitable age-range for me (at least that's what I like to believe Angelic) so I'd like to think that me and my unhealthy obsession for anything golden haired, royal and hailing from Mirkwood are ageing appropriately along with the boys. But heck who am I kidding, I don't care if I had been 15 or 75! The obession is strong with these ones Heart 40 is just a number (and I believe OB isn't even that young compared to you. See? Your obsession is perfectly healthy!)

Love your extensive post Eruvandi [In reply to]

About Thranduil/wife storyline according to PJ/PB/FW!

And like you, I believe they changed some bits of Thingol's story to fit Thranduil. I wonder what the Tolkien Estate thought of that?

In Reply To

So while Elrond, although he was probably hurt deeply by his wife's death, recovered fairly well, Thranduil might have been so devastated by the loss of his own wife that it just hurt to much to show love to anyone after that.

Only I thought Elrond's wife wasn't dead but after her Orc encouter was too deeply (mentally?) damaged that she sailed to the UD aka Valinor (the place to be! I'm still waiting for my golden Elven King to take that ship and sail straight into my po... errrr I'm sorry it's way too late over here again and it's affecting my train of thoughts).

So dead or sailing to Valinor, might be two very different things since Elrond knows for sure his wife will be waiting for him. Thranduil's wife on the other hand might just as well sailed to Valinor for all we know. Or could have died and is still waiting to reincarnate (that's what happens to Elves right? I can't remember exactly) and for her husband to finally come around and take that darn ship alright.

There are more like you among the Thralls. Some of us (including myself) have a (current) crush on the Elven King's sexy/pretty/beautiful son. Still, we all agree that he has some couple of thousand years of catching up to do if he wants to be as fab as his daddy.

Can I offer a swap, VValar? [In reply to]

It's no less heart-attack inducing, but if you click on the picture below you'll be taken to the original source. (Sorry, but this particular one is a sore point with me -- if you're interested in why you can click on the image below and follow the link to read my tags on that post.)

In fact, when I was lurking I saw that image (usually at much lower resolutions) posted several times on these threads (but never with a link to the original), and I might as well confess now that's one reason I stayed in lurkdom so long, because I hated seeing these unattributed copies (and most of them were of degraded quality) floating around, but I didn't want to intrude. So now that I'm here, I hope you'll forgive me if I point you to the source instead. Evil

(By the way, VValar: I'm not at all suggesting that you knew about -- or had any reason to know -- any of this.)

     Ye gads [In reply to]

I know I filled out all the necessary paperwork for the concubine position. Even had it notarized by Elrond! A copy must be here, somewhere in this thud suite. So many pillows and thud cushions. It is difficult to keep things orderly. Now did I file it under, Employment opportunities or lusty enterprises?
Thranduil has such dreamy bedrooms eyes and looks like a randy elvenking. Must resolve this concubine service status.

Must remember not to thud in the throne room. So not cool.

Where is that new gown I ordered from that Lord of the Rings Fashion tumbler?
