I would direct you to Altaira's post on Feedback [In reply to]

where she explains that warnings had been given, but clearly our earlier attempts did not change the posts in these threads, so maybe we had to make a bit more noise in order to be heard.

While you might be new to the forums, there were enough participants who have been here for a while, and many who started the Thranduil threads, so they certainly knew the rules. The admins aren't the only people who should monitor the message boards - everyone has a stake in this site - and we are disappointed that the veterans didn't help the new folks out.

I was a member of this site for nearly ten years before I became an admin, and I always felt that I had a role to play in the smooth functioning of the site. If I saw a new person who was trying to figure out how to navigate the rules, I would help and point them in the right direction. That's what a community does - they help each other. We thought we had that in the Thranduil threads, but clearly we were wrong, and now we know as admins that we have to watch the thread more closely.

I also think when his elk picks up what at 5 or four orcs on it's antler and he chops there heads clean off is CGI.

OMGoodness, I hope it was; though it would have been a great way to think out the extras.

And we're locked. [In reply to]

I'm sure everyone is glad this thread has reached its end and we're all looking forward to moving on.

As we have been mentioning, the admins will be watching the Thranduil threads more closely. While we are currently allowing them to continue, we feel the need to set some ground rules.

  1. Be aware of our Terms of Service, and Magpie's excellent guide for posting pictures.
  2. If a thread is locked, a new thread can not be started until the locked thread has fallen off the first page.
  3. No use of copyrighted material
  4. All posts must remain within our family-friendly guidelines
  5. No profanity
  6. Posts are restricted to the Hobbit movies. We realize the small tangents happen, but a long discussion that has strayed from the movie will be removed and posted in the appropriate forum.
  7. If you have any questions, post a message on our Feedback forum or PM an admin.
