Admins, can you rule on a post in this thread? Can't Post

I have been amused, up to this point. I am not sure about this, and don't ordinarily like "Reporting Someone To The Authorities". But see what you think:

"an seileachan"

Through any dark time, I always remember Frodo's claim on the side of Mt. Doom that he "can manage it" because he must.
Sometimes, I have to manage it, too, as do we all. We manage because we must.

I'm afraid this one has gone over my head. [In reply to] Can't Post

Perhaps this is just me being an innocent Antipodean, but I don't see where an offence has been caused. Would you mind clarifying - either here or in a private message?

Celebrimbor: "Pretty rings..."
Dwarves: "Pretty rings..."
Men: "Pretty rings..."
Sauron: "Mine's better."

"Ah, how ironic, the addictive qualities of Sauron’s master weapon led to its own destruction. Which just goes to show, kids - if you want two small and noble souls to succeed on a mission of dire importance... send an evil-minded beggar with them too." - Gandalf's Diaries, final par, by Ufthak.

I have no idea what he's talking about. But he says no offense intended. Thanks for looking anyhow.

I believe the reference is to [In reply to] Can't Post

Tolkien's comparison of his Dwarves with the Jewish peoples: "I do think of the 'Dwarves' like Jews: at once native and alien in their habitations, speaking the languages of the country, but with an accent due to their own private tongue..." (Letter #176).

I'll post this over there.

yes I recognize that's where he was going, but not where he got [In reply to] Can't Post

He's spent a great deal of time telling us Vikings are horrible, and then said that Jews are related to them. I thought maybe he was drawing a comparison. Now I think he's just mixing up his points.

Probably should have read the whole thread before reporting to the Principal's office here. But then, I would have had to read the whole thread.

Me too, [In reply to] Can't Post

but it seems there are some important differences, if I'm thinking of the same person.

But it's all so fruitless, I think we'll all be done with any further discussions of this type with this poster very soon.

(I certainly am!Unsure)

Well, now [In reply to] Can't Post

I'm beginning to think so after all, especially after a few of the newer posts (including a couple of posts on two other boards here).

So, I'm definitely done. The best defense is the better part of valour. I mean, the better part of discretion is a good offense. I mean, offenses are best handled with discretion. Or something.

love that [In reply to] Can't Post

often have to remind myself of it in these types of situations. Substitute "stupid" or "obtuse" or "ill-informed" for "wrong" - so hard to just let them be who they are, innit?
