Dave Comer in PJ's Hobbit Production Diary Can't Post

As soon as I heard the news that Dave Comer, location scout for LOTR and The Hobbit, had died I immediately thought to one of PJ's early blog videos. In Production Diary 2, we are shown a little bit about how location scouting is done. I remember being incredibly excited when first watching this video because of how ready I was to experience more of the New Zealand-ness of Middle Earth!

The location scouting part starts right at 5 minutes and we see Dave Comer around 5:50.

Peace, Mr. Comer [In reply to] Can't Post

and for his family and friends.

I just read about him in an article about his work in finding locations... one was Edoras. What a wonderful job he had... flying all over the wondrous landscapes, mountains and waters of NZ.

Rest in Peace.
