What Magpie said [In reply to] Can't Post

But seeing how you've broken it to parts, I voted for FOTR.

I also agree with Magpie [In reply to] Can't Post

but I voted for FotR

I'm also very fond, from childhood, of the Essay on Fairy Stories.

Wink Sorry I don't think everyone said it enough times. So I just voted for ROTK.

LOTR can also be considered as 6 books [In reply to] Can't Post

but, breaking it down to 3 for the poll is fine.

My choice is of course a book that includes the death of Boromir and Shelob - The Two Towers.

The Hobbit or The Silmarillion [In reply to] Can't Post

Depending on my mood.

I do love LOTR as well of course (especially FOTR book 1) , but I've never connected the same way as I have with the other books)

Yes Lotr is one book but..... [In reply to] Can't Post

I know that it is one book but for the sake of this poll I split it up for more diverse answers. Secondly, even though Tolkien wrote it as one book, it was published as three so I chose to split it up because of that as well (yes I know, the only reason they split it up was because of the cost of paper).
Ps. apologies for leaving out Tolkien's essay on fairy stories(I quite like that one).

you can split it up... [In reply to] Can't Post

but answering FOTR, TTT, or ROTK is more like asking which chapter of The Hobbit is my favorite and that's not what I think you want to know.

You want to know 'which story' is our favorite.

LOTR is one book and three books and six books [In reply to] Can't Post

However you divide them up, FOTR is my favorite. I'm always happiest when I'm walking in the Shire.
