Re-Watching Born of Hope and Hunt for Gollum

Hey folks. Mods - feel free to move this if need be, I'm not sure if this belongs here, in Fan Art or Main, or where. I went back this week and watched not only the extended editions of AUJ, DOS, FotR, TTT and RotK, but also re-watched the fan-films, Born of Hope and Hunt for Gollum. Now, I was curious if anyone else was doing this. Watching all of these together, it made the viewings quite interesting. For example, in Born of Hope we get a shot of Dol Guldur, and a ring subplot of Sauron searching for the Ruling Ring. That, and now with Thranduil's reference to Arathorn (as well as references in LotR, of course), watching Born of Hope made my Middle-Earth experience even more deepened. The Dol Guldur shot and the reference by the orc to Dol Guldur holds more weight for me now, having seen the subplot in the Hobbit films. It's a more fleshed out place in my mind, so it's exciting to go back and view these. The Hunt for Gollum was simply interesting, now having finished off the Hobbit trilogy, and seeing it set in-between the trilogies. When there was once talk of a bridge film, I know some of us had brought up the Hunt for Gollum. Anywho, I guess what I'm curious about is if I'm alone in having went back to watch these two fan-films, or if there were others. And if so, how is your viewing experience now, having seen both of Jackson's trilogies? A bit specific, I'm sure, but thought it worth asking. Cheers, and a merry Christmas!

I have also re - watched all six films, plus Born of Hope and Hunt for Gollum. I'm totally immersed in Middle Earth and I am always looking for links between the films and book material. My ultimate dream would be a superior bridge film, probably called War in the North, which combines elements from HfG, EE scenes from BOTFA and information from the Appendices, plus some of what Gandalf tells Frodo in the Shadow of the Past book chapter and a lot of the Council of Elrond debate. So to summarise, we could film: The above info plus: The decline of Saruman Mordor rising and the activities of the Nine Rangers guarding the Shire Trouble for both Erebor and Mirkwood Gollum coming out and eventually recaptured Orcs multiplying Gandalf and Aragorn at Bree

Although they are non-profit, non-official films, I have always considered Born of Hope and The Hunt for Gollum to be part of the "official" film canon and lexicon. The references you mention regarding Arathorn and Dol Guldur had both occurred to me as well, and I am even more grateful for the mention of Arathorn after having seen Christopher Dane's masterful portrayal of him in Born of Hope. I honestly don't think that anyone can fully admire the brilliance of Middle-earth on film until they have watched all 8 sections of the saga.
