http://variety.com/...k-in-u-s-1201386899/ Peter Jackson’s “The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies” has wound up its first week in U.S. theaters by crossing the $100 million milestone. Tuesday grosses for the finale of the New Line-mgm ‘Hobbit’ trilogy totaled $9.8 million, lifting “Five Armies” to $107.9 million. That’s a faster pace than last year’s “The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug,” which took in $96 million in its first week in the U.S. on its way to a domestic total of $258 million. Though it’s not as fast 2012’s “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey,” which grossed $113 million in its first week and finished with $303 million in the U.S. “Five Armies” is the third movie to pass $100 million in the U.S. in a week this year following Lionsgate’s “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1,” which grossed $168.7 million in its opening week, and Marvel-Disney’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” with $134.4 million its first week.

Or at least this weekend.....from a quick read round the 'Net, either BOFA or Into the Woods may take the second weekend top spot re Into the Woods being a "family film" but personally I generally find a way to wriggle out of seeing movie musicals. Come on, isn't seeing an awesome dragon for Christmas more fun?

Especially when I need a Hobbit-fix. But at least maybe you will have a great, non-noisy audience? I am kind of wary of Friday crowds, especially day after Christmas, but that's when my friend can go. I will hope for the best!

Though Estonians are usually well-behaved in the cinema regardless of the time. But the fewer people, the better - less chance of nasty surprises. Good luck!

but I was wrong!!! There IS such a thing as a Christmas Smaug!... Happy 4th viewing for you, with a Smaug-not-cute-at-all... but also the Thorin you love!...
