Favorite Quotes from the Movies?

Does anyone have any favorite quotes from these movies? I just thought Thorin's words to Bilbo (book and movie) was so touching: "If more of us valued home above gold, it would be a merrier world." It really brought tears to my eyes when I saw the movie and I'm glad they kept the quote from the book - though a bit shortened yeah?

... I love Sigrid and Tilda's dialogue in The Desolation of Smaug when the Dwarves start climbing out of the toilet in Bard's house. The way Peggy and Mary Nesbitt deliver their respective lines ("Da, why are there Dwarves climbing out of our toilet?" and "Will they bring us luck?") is just brilliant, especially since they had little to no previous acting experience.

"No. I will not die like this. Cowering, clawing for breath." A big contrast to the Thorin from the books who does exactly that when faced with Smaug. Such a powerfull scene and this line together with Howard Shores wonderfull music sends shivers down my spine. Dunno if it qulifies as a quote though.

Where Thorin tells Bilbo to go back to his books and his armchair. That plus the part from the book was amazing.

"Look, I know you doubt me, I know you always have. And you're right... I often think of Bag End. I miss my books, and my armchair, and my garden. See, that's where I belong, that's home. That's why I came back... 'cause you don't have one, a home. It was taken from you. But I will help you take it back if I can."

"I may be a burglar, but I'd like to think I'm an honest one" - Bilbo Baggins. I think I got that right.

"Good evening." "Yes, yes it is, though I think it might rain later." "I have the only right." "If this is to end in fire, then we will all burn together." "Will you follow me, one last time?" Also loved Elrond's "You should have stayed dead" and Thorin's last words.

Gandalf: "Perhaps it is because I am afraid, and he gives me courage." Smaug: 'I am almost tempted to let you take it, if only to see Oakenshield suffer. Watch it corrupt his heart, and drive him mad. Bilbo: "It's more than any Baggins deserves." Gandalf: "You have been sitting quietly for far too long!" Thorin: "I told him to go (dwarvish cursing)!" Dwalin: "You cannot see what you have become." Bofur: "No, you're right. We don't belong anywhere. I wish you all the luck in the world. I really do." Beorn: "...but orcs I hate more. What do you need?" Saruman: "Are you in need of assistance, my lady?" Bard: "Bain! You look at me!" Bofur: "..and a lovely game it is too, if you've got the balls for it." Gandalf: "If we are to be successful, this will need to be handled with tact, and respect, and no small degree of charm, which is why you will leave the talking to me." Balin: "More of a letter-opener." Oin: "He said he's an expert! Ha Hey!"

The contrast these words express, which you pointed out, summarize exactly what for me has made 'The Hobbit' version PJ much more interesting than it had ever been as the book version with these ridiculous and cowardly and ugly Dwarves. I agree fully with you about this quote!
'Is everything sad going to come untrue?' (Sam, 'The Field of Cormallen', in 'The Return of the King'.)

It was such a sudden, vivid reminder of the lightheartedness of the beginning of the journey, contrasted against how tragically it ended. It made me cry.

"Are you in need of assistance, my lady?" *Saruman battle noises against the Nazgul* "And has been banished." "No. Look after the Lady Galadriel, she has spent much of her power, her strength is failing. Take her to Lothlorien." "Without the ring of power, Sauron can never again hold dominion over Middle Earth!" "Go now!" "Leave Sauron to me."
I am obsessed with Saruman - aspiring to know every last detail about him. I like to think of myself as a Saru-scholar.
