Flag Semaphore Can't Post

Did anyone else like the Orc flag Semaphore and trumpet system installed on Ravenhill?

Loved it, but [In reply to] Can't Post

If Alfrid was a goose for missing the arrival of the Elf army - how clueless were all the Elves and men in not noticing the construction work going on on Ravenhill.

Agreed [In reply to] Can't Post

In fact, I was really surprised at the naivety shown by the Elves, Men and Dwarves in not figuring out the enemy's plans a bit sooner.

Thank goodness for those eagles [In reply to] Can't Post

The orcs seemed to be way ahead of everyone else not only in numbers, but also in strategy. The elves leaping over the dwarves looked very cool, but if I had been Thranduil I would have split my force into left and right wings and sent them around to the sides to hem in the orcs and pour arrows into them while they were all massed together and charging the dwarves. I can't remember exactly how Tolkien described the battle in the book, but I seem to remember that he gave a pretty good description of the positions and tactics used by both sides and it was more realistic, with both sides trying to get the high ground and so on.
