Looked (and acted) more or less as I'd imagined when reading the book, Ken Stott plays the role masterfully, quiet and dignified, yet very interesting to watch, its very easy to believe he is the wise, moral compass of the group, shame he didn't get more dialogue (though that goes for most of the Dwarves) Bofur and Bombur are quite likable and amusing, Fili and Kili are fairly likable but never seemed very 'Dwarish' to me, Thorin mostly annoys me, whilst the other Dwarves seemed relegated to occasionally quirky high cost extras. Billy Connoly was great as Dain.

He was my personal favorite Dwarf in these movies. I'll admit to being a bit skeptical at first based on Connolly's description and feelings on the book, but he pulled it off! Other than the Battle of Dol Guldur, Dain was my favorite part of the movie!

because I unexpectedly fell for this character after seeing these films. Before I had expectations for Thorin mostly, but his nephews, and especially Fili, grew on me. Wonderful look (more Dwarvish than his brother), a very good actor, a real hero (even if too much underused, we'll see in the EE).

do you even have to ask me this question? I seem to fall for him more with each installment, so regardless of what happens to him in BoFA, he'll still be my favorite, dragon sick or not, since there's nothing Thorin can do that can make me hate him, that's just not going to happen.

Balin... He's the father-figure of the group... he's so wise, smart, passionate, strategic, generous, and he "gets" who Bilbo is. From the moment Bilbo opened his door to find that bright dwarf on his step, I've just loved him :) Bofur... he's got such a warped sense of humour and is so good to Bilbo. He's a doll. Dori... I just love anything he says! They way he talks cracks me up! "Can't you do something about this dehhhhloooooge?"

He's been my favorite since the first film....which makes these last two films frustrating because I think there was so much potential for his character and the family dynamic with Thorin and Kili, but he ended up largely in the background

It's hard to pick a favourite but I voted for Balin. Other favourites would be Thorin, Dwalin and Dain.

I liked him in AUJ, but absolutely fell in live with him in DOS, and have adored him since. Thorin, by the way is a close second, and Dwalin's not too far behind either.

Being a fan of the source material isn't necessarily a bonus when it comes to making these films *Bakshi*, As a Brit I was already a huge fan of Connolly as both an Actor and Comedian, Dain didn't disappoint, hilarious and fierce (if not very similar to how I pictured him), just wish he got more screentime.

I love so many of the dwarves, but I guess my favorites are Fili, Kili and Bofur. My vote went to Fili though. He deserved better.

I just can't decide on one. I would say Balin but then again Thorin is right up there and such a great character played my Armitage. But either Ken Stott's Balin or Armitage's Thorin..but then again there's McTavish's Dwalin "Very good this. is there any more??!!" ..Argh I just can't choose.

..not ditched. Um. Per se. Just found myself watching Fili's every move and reaction this time round... Dean did a wonderful job, all throughout this trilogy.

Not that Thorin hurts my eyes or anything. Buried waaaaay back in AUJ posts I initially said I thought Fili was the most interesting Dwarf...so maybe I have come full circle. Or just keeping you all on your toes.

Fili's dimples had me from my first viewing of AUJ. I actually have found it fun to watch Fili too, because you have to work a little harder to get to know him. He doesn't talk much (other than yelling "Kili!"), but anytime he's in the camera's range he's still telling you something if you make the effort... ["to look away from Thorin" are the words I excised here ]. Still waters run deep, they say, and Fili seems to be the most thoughtful Dwarf after Balin. I often wonder what's going through his mind.
