It was fitting that I saw BOTFA with my pal with whom I've seen every opening night of LOTR and The Hobbit. Only now his kids are teenagers! We all gave it a thumbs up despite laughing at some scenes that again defy the laws of physics. I loved Smaug and Laketown, Thorin is amazing, as are Bard, Thranduil, Legolas, Tauriel...Bilbo is fantastic...there are some fantastic battles scenes... Some scenes remind me of others, but it's all part of the continuum of life in PJ's middle-earth. I loved the ending....I was wondering how it would rap up, and I was emotional and happy...Billy Boyd's song is great and a send off to the entire franchise. I don't think I'll be able to see it again until next year...due to my schedule....we will see...there are so many scenes I want to watch again!

... because Tolkien didn't have video games and we do... I was seriously like, "video game moment!" Elves, just chalk it up to people who can in fact bend the laws of physics...

Than actual physics breaking, it is possibly worth saying, though I know what the OP means.

It occurred to me that we've been doing this formillenia... in martial arts. and not just "wire-fu" but the ideas beneath kung-fu and the like are moving energy, mind over matter, blah blah blah... the idea to train mind and body to do "the impossible", or rather what the mundane world doesn't think is possible. Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon contains a great deal of wire fu, and stretches the actual concepts of kung-fu into fairy tale land; people flying over rooftops, having swordfights in the swaying tops of bamboo trees and generally defying gravity. The ideas behind that are part of actual martial arts. So, now, you've had 485 years to practice...
