Greetings to one and all!! I'll be your server for the day as RL has called our lovely Altaira to duty. So are you ready to go see a movie next week!? *twitch* I've already got my ticket for The Hobbit Marathon showing at my local theatre. It starts at noon on Monday the 15th… and it means we get to see TBOFA early! *spasm* It's getting down to it, FINALLY. So do tell… WHO are you going with…WHAT are you wearing and/or eating…WHERE are you going to see it…and WHEN do you think you'll recover from the emotional and historic end of this incredible run of Middle-earth films? *grabs glass* What'll ya have? *clicks on Google* Here are some fun activities to keep you distracted.
Gandalf reminds gramma to go see The Battle of the Five Armies! 6th draft of TH:AUJ Geeky Observation List - November 28, 2013 4th draft of TH:DOS Geeky Observation List - May 15, 2014 "There is more in you of good than you know, child of the kindly West." I'm SO HAPPY these new films take me back to that magical world!! TIME Google Calendar TORn's Geeky Observations Lists for LotR and The Hobbit

Thoroughly enjoyed it. My favourite of the trilogy I think. It occurred to me that I was 13, back in early 2000 when I first heard about LoTR being made into a film. They have been a constant presence in my life ever since, I have retreated into Middle Earth through some difficult times in life. It is weird to think it is now all over. Needless to say, there were a few tears! Hope everyone enjoys their viewings :)

I'm Going on Monday Also! I had been scheduled to narrate at a band performance that night, but they re-scheduled the concert to last Monday - so I can go with my kids! Woot! The Trilogy starts at 12:00 at a mall theater near Providence RI, about an hour away. I think it's the same theater where Geeky Son and I met up with greendragon and L.Ron Halfelven for a LotR Trilogy several years ago. This showing is in 2D, my eldest gets headaches from 3D. I know I'm gonna cry...have you stocked up on tissues? Meanwhile, I've got to make it through the rest of the day here...been unpacking new textbooks. Got any dark roast coffee there, gramma? I could use a huge mug (and a shot of Bailey's might help the afternoon go quicker)!

There's the EE to look forward to...and constant re-viewing! It will always be with us, and there for us to visit whenever we wish to, or need to.

Just got back from my second viewing of BOFA. It's going to take a while to recover from this. Friendly advice to all females: do NOT wear mascara! Have a great weekend, everybody!

Yes I'm going :D , am still working out the when and who with, and will be wearing what I've been wearing the last few times-- a sort-of generic-Hobbit outfit made out of some stuff that I conveniently already had in my wardrobe + a handmade green cape that my mother and I originally put together for the first Narnia movie years ago + Hobbit-foot slippers from ThinkGeek that I got a couple years back + a (fake) gold ring on a (fake) gold chain that I've had for ages. (All put together, it actually looks pretty good, if I do say so myself! :D ) And right now I don't really want to think about this being the end of LOTR on the big screen... I just want to enjoy the moment. :) A Winter Usual, please, gramma; thanks, and I hope you have a great weekend (and an *AWESOME* time at the Marathon)! :) *hugs*

Well, with my middle daughter. We have gone to see each new movie together since Two Towers (we missed FOTR) and we are planning to see this one, too. Just not on opening night! I'll be sad to see the movies end if for no other reason than this special event thing. Sentimental? Yes, that's me! OK barkeep, I'm on a lunch break so just a nice warm mocha java for me and then back I go! Have a great weekend all. a.s. (sorry I am feeling oddly disconnected, posted this in the wrong subthread and see gramma already replied to it, so I guess that's gone, too, and I like gramma replies, wahhh! Should have left it alone but now posted properly. Boy, ya go away ya forget all sorts a stuff....)
"an seileachan" Through any dark time, I always remember Frodo's claim on the side of Mt. Doom that he "can manage it" because he must. Sometimes, I have to manage it, too, as do we all. We manage because we must.

Ahh, I know--the end has come! Gandalf's words at the Havens will be very topical Monday night, after it's all over. Well, I'm going by myself. Unless you count the others who attend the showing (hey almost 9 hours, so I count them as family in that time). And I'll count the dozens of TORnsibs around the country/world in other theaters, too. I don't think I'll be in costume due to the distance I need to travel the morning-of. I will bring my Bofur hat, of course. Food: hmm, maybe some popcorn during the first two movies. The theater has a restaurant with it, so maybe something a bit heavier before the new movie. I'm going to my preferred Cinemark of choice. It's going to be in HFR 3D on the XD screen (comfy seats, more leg room, huuge screen and great sound). A good day, all in all! Uhhh, I'll probably wake up teary-eyed the next morning (after finally returning to the Hobbit board after watching the movie--over 4000 posts to catch up on ). Lots of time for reflection before I go somewhere else to see it a second time, either on the 17th or that weekend. *sigh* Gimme a hot chocolate, pretty please. Thanks, gramma! Have a great weekend.

I guess I keep forgetting that we're among the last to see it here. Good thing Monday's marathon won't be a sell-out--I'd feel bad for anyone sitting next to me. A brief question: even better the second time?

Here's a pic of the outfit from the first time I wore it, then (attached). :) The cape is sort-of covering up one of my favorite pieces of it, which is a brown velvet vest that looks very much like a waistcoat, but you get the idea. :)

In November, WEEKS ago, I thought it would be nice to have some neighbors over for an afternoon of holiday cheer. I've been to most of their houses, so it was my "turn" to host. Now that the party is tomorrow, I'm wondering what on earth I was thinking! But I think I'm ready - the house is clean and decorated, most of the food is ready, and I'll put the finishing touches today and tomorrow morning. My guests are also bringing stuff, so we will have plenty to eat and drink. We're in full Christmas mode here, but I still haven't given my siblings my list. Need to get that done, and next week is cookie baking time. I do love to make Christmas cookies, with music in the background. I had a nice French martini last weekend - raspberry liqueur like Chambord, pineapple juice and vodka, topped with a splash of champagne. Perfect for a Friday afternoon!
