The sky was uncannily blue that day [In reply to] Can't Post

The air itself seemed to have a blueish glow, not to mention the snow. One of those magical days. Smile

Hubby and kids googled thanksgiving dinner [In reply to] Can't Post

And came up with recipes for what we usually have. I told them to call me I can get them through - but I have to admit I wish I was there to watch. Laugh. This will be my first holiday where I won't make it home in the evening at least. I've worked them before but never been this far away. Hopefully they will freeze some of their dinner so I can taste their handiwork.

Surgery went ok but no path results yet. The hospital is short-staffed so we're assuming a few more days. He has good days and not-so-good days and a long road ahead. The nurses have been spectacular. In fact from the parking garage attendant to the volunteers, the doctors to the nurses and aides, I have yet to see a cranky face even while covering extra shifts and sleeping in the hospital. Just an amazing bunch of people!

Has anyone heard from Otaku-sempai? He lives in the south towns here in Buffalo I think. Sending good wishes and thoughts out to him and his family. The temp is supposed to rise and rain is coming so now they are worried about roof collapse and flooding. They are already staging for flood rescues. It's been a rough week for those guys south of the city.

Thanks to all who are keeping my family in their thoughts and prayers. I found that I have more folks than I expected who I can count on at home, here in Buffalo and among my online friends. For that I am very very grateful!

"Yarnbombing" was the key word [In reply to] Can't Post

for a writing contest I entered a few years ago. I'd never heard of it before so I had to look it up and work it into a 1600 word mystery story written within 48 hours. It was my first time writing for a contest and I finished in the top five. It was fun! After that I saw a couple real life examples on the streets of Hampden, a funky neighborhood in Baltimore. (Hairspray was kinda sorta about that part of town.)

I've heard Yarn Bombing called gentle graffiti because it's not permanent and doesn't harm anything.

One of my favorites -

I'll have you do my turkey, as well - I'm terrible at drying out things! (Or maybe I should say that I'm good at it?Tongue)

That's a great way to handle the Fair. And home-made crafts make excellent unique giflts! (I do a lot of my holiday shopping at the summer craft fairs.) Best of luck with it!

How long is your jury duty commitment? My state changed several years ago to one-day service (I'd had to do it once before then when it was two-weeks).

*gets out HUGE jug of mulled cider* Holiday dinner for HOW many? Good heavens - all that, plus working on the quilt! You'll need all the extra energy you can get! Best of wishes for everything happening well and on time!

*Sipping rosé on the terrace* [In reply to] Can't Post

A gorgeous day today. Still catching up on laundry, etc, after a week away; fortunately it's good weather for getting washing dry!

We had an excellent few days in Wellington, then off to the South Island town of Oamaru for their annual Victorian festival, which was a whirl of soirées, balls and garden parties. Lovely!

Enjoy what's left of the weekend, everyone.

You end up with one funny-looking bird, but it stays nice and moist!

Thanks for the good wishes - the fair was a success, our fourth year on. We spread vendors from the fellowship hall to the front foyer on the other side of the sanctuary - over 35 of them. I'm beat!

It's not irreverent at all to feel that way. I noticed it, too.

So late, I'm practically early! [In reply to] Can't Post

An interesting weekend for me. Reunited with a lot of people, which, I think (in addition to throwing myself right into a boatload of work) pushed me into a sort of self-induced stress sickness. For a couple of days, I felt incredibly restless, tense and eventually felt a bit of a fever. Ah, change--it affects us all! Doing much better now, thankfully.

Wow, BOTFA is coming so fast! I've had a horrible sense of time this week. Crazy
