Why Thranduil is possibly mad at Tauriel?
|

Well, they said his past will really change the events. So I think what happens is he hears about Smaug's attack on laketown like the book, and heads over to Dale to take revenge. After the little attack on Dale, Tauriel and Legolas would be following the armies? Then Thranduil gets mad at Tauriel for risking Legolas' life by leaving and banishes her, so then maybe she tries to head for Erebor from Dale and the war starts. Then she gets attacked my Bolg and then Legolas comes and tries to help her.

We know that Thranduil refuses to risk his people aiding Thorin at Ravenhill. I'd guess that Tauriel becomes...insubordinate when she hears this, and that Thranduil reacts by slapping her. And then she goes anyway.

I think she might be protecting a dwarf (or some of the dwarves) and he might be angry with her for turning her back on her people?

She's Captain of the Guard. She and Legolas are the right and left hands of his military. What would Theoden do without Theodred and Eomer? What would happen to Denethor without Boromir and Faramir? Tauriel and Legolas did a *very* bad thing.

As if an Elf who was allegedly 'captain of the guard' would desert well-disciplined Elf troops. More forced nonsense.

Although with the benefit of the EE deleted scenes, we at least know that Legolas was granted permission to search for her for two days, so I consider him to be less, if at all insubordinate. Tauriel, it could be argued had already left via the gates when Thranduil issued his order to let no one in or out of the kingdom. However, when Legolas located her and she refused to return, it did become desertion at that point.

...because she does and yet does not exist. LOL. He must destroy the paradox while he can....I can understand the animosity, but other elves do exist. It's not just Elrond or Legolas, plenty of other unnamed elves are hanging about. It's not out of the question for a film. Everyone needs to get over it already, besides, it's too late now anyway.
"There is a long road yet," said Gandalf. "But it is the last road," said Bilbo.

He will reveal that his wife being reckless and going into battle for no good reason got her killed, and that he doesn't want that for his son, nor indeed Tauriel whom he sees as a daughter (or he at least has kept her around because he reminds her of his wife).

Slowing down that clip, it's become evident that she was pointing an arrow at him, and he disarms her bow with his sword. Why would she be pointing an arrow at her boss? Is it possible that HE is about to step over the line, maybe because of his indifference to "other lands?' Maybe because of the white gems? Is he starting to act like Thorin? I expect such behavior to get her kicked out of Murkwood, but would Legolas then follow her because he cares for her, or because he knows she's right? If she is protecting the dwarves, is it because Thranduil is literally threatening them? Maybe planning to hold them hostage in exchange for the gems? Maybe after Legolas promised them safe passage? This is all speculation, I've read nothing about the reason - but I can hardly wait to find out! I think it may be is going to be much like that. I think maybe they are sort of paralleling Tauriel and Kili's storylines - he'll see Thorin going off the edge, refusing to do the right thing and speak against it, Tauriel will see Thranduil refusing to do the right thing and speak against it. I didn't know Thranduil was going to refuse to help at Ravenhill but that will create a similar situation to the one of the dwarves remaining in the mountain while the fighting goes on outside. Maybe Thranduil IS attempting to hold some of the dwarves hostage and keeping THEM from going to Ravenhill, which would certainly affect the ability of the others to fight effectively. This is a plotpoint I had no idea about and am now very interested in seeing the outcome.

but I think that they would of already left because the attack is the beginning of the battle and all of them are their with Thorin when they negotiate. I wonder where Bilbo is though, I don't remember seeing him in the trailer I might look at that. Also Tauriel wasn't my favorite addition, but she was written well so she feels natural. I don't exactly agree with Tauriel, but she probably has to have a ending to her story and it's a little bit too late.

I thought you were making a joke about Tauriel stealing his Lego blocks.
Celebrimbor: "Pretty rings..." Dwarves: "Pretty rings..." Men: "Pretty rings..." Sauron: "Mine's better." "Ah, how ironic, the addictive qualities of Sauron’s master weapon led to its own destruction. Which just goes to show, kids - if you want two small and noble souls to succeed on a mission of dire importance... send an evil-minded beggar with them too." - Gandalf's Diaries, final par, by Ufthak. in keeping with Tolkien's world. The audience is seeing him through Kili's eyes - who as we know is notoriously bad at telling the difference. Unfortunately, even knowing that, I still find him an annoying character and hope he will get a comparatively early death in the next film.
