Although we don't, as an audience, here even as much as a peep coming from the direction of Thranduil's higher halls. Has anyone else thought this out?

There was a funny outtake where Aiden and Evangeline were filming that scene and PJ informs them that they're being watched and they turn around and look up and see Legolas watching them like he does in the movie except he was wearing a child's party hat and was drinking wine and was obviously drunk and he calls Evangeline a nasty word and they all start laughing lol

Then I must not be able to hear it myself. Sometimes there sounds like what could be a distant cry or tear of laughter but i'm not quite sure.

"There's distraction buzzing in my head, Saying in the shadows it's easier to stay. But I've heard rumors, of true reality. Whispers of a well-lit way. When the world has fallen out from under me, I'll be found in You, still standing. When the sky rolls up and mountains fall on their knees, When time and space are through. I'll be found in You." ~Shadowfeet by Brooke Fraser

Am not quite up to the appendices yet, but am now immensely looking forward to that one. I know I'll hoot out loud!
