... is a good one to remember for the ever once in a while coming Nazi-accusations.
"I am afraid it is only too likely to be true what you say about the critics and the public. I am dreading the publication for it will be impossible not to mind what is said. I have exposed my heart to be shot at." J.R.R. Tolkien We all have our hearts and minds one way or another invested in these books and movies. So we all mind and should show the necessary respect.

Some of it I learned from reading a Tolkien biography for a book report in middle school and some of it I learned from watching TORn Tuesday. Re that first one about chasing his neighbor dressed like an Anglo-Saxon warrior: LOL! Now I can see one of the reasons why he and C.S. Lewis got along so well at first. A couple of the biography's I've read about Lewis said he could be quite a character too. Supposedly, he got in a sword fight with one of his students one time when they were both passionately arguing different sides of a topic. Thanks for posting, Elizabeth!

Though I never believed the charges of anti-semitism sometimes leveled against Tolkien, it's heartening to read his own words on the subject. Makes me admire the professor even more. Thanks for posting this, Elizabeth.
