here, this image of Thranduil is the last one on the last page and the description says: "Thranduil in the snow-covered ruins of Dale. The black liquid staining his blade indicates recent fighting." So that liquid is supposed to be black liquid, aka orc blood? All right. Answers the question then.

please don't withdraw like this, it is too sad, and absurd, considering that I didn't mean anything insulting at all, you can believe me. I have to read again what I wrote, I can't understand how it could lead to such a situation between us!

and saw that you simply didn't take it literally enough: I have noticed since long that we human beings each have our own way of using the words we use, even when we speak/write the same language. So whenever I meet somebody new whom I want to go on communicating with, quite automatically I start noticing and recording for myself the specific nuance of meaning they give to certain words, that would for me mean a slightly different nuance of meaning. I'm so used to doing that for myself, in order to communicate better with that other person, I didn't realize you might wonder what I was talking about. But you know, with me at least, you don't have to fear inuendoes or other clever hidden meanings or bad intentions. It's not my way at all. I'm all for plain, clear, over the table and well-intentioned communication. So, friends again, I hope??? I do appreciate you a lot, you know!

Thanks for bothering to reply and clarify, mae govannen, and the olive-branch (humbly accepted). Very generous and classy of you. And very much appreciated. Will (try to) keep this short as I don't like getting too deep into personal PoV and OT on these discussion. Frankly, it's really mostly me in this situation. In my short time er-posting on TORn, I've had a couple of strange encounters, which start out much like this conversation - I post something I thought clever/funny (yeah, hurhur to that especially since my "funny" mostly deadends the conversation), and when someone responds as you did, I'd think "Yay, this is going to be a bit of fun and banter with intelligent discussion as it happens." It may not look it, but often what you called 'sarcasm'->my dry humour is born out of my deadpan self-deprecation and appreciation for dark and ironic humour, but still mostly a cynical self-poke. (It comes out strange, I know - I'm old enough to recognise the oddness in that.) Anyway, so yes, I start enjoying myself, but well, it has gone pear-shaped before, and so while I chuckled at your response, I also started second-guessing. So I chose to err on the side of petty and withdraw, in case I'm reading things wrong again. My choice of words and tone is problematic so I apologise for that. Now, at the risk of sounding like a broken record, I really do respect your openness, generosity and gesture here. Very refreshing in these situations and an absolutely pleasant surprise <-genuine smile. I'm about PoV'd out, so before it gets too uncomfortable - for self-centred petty lil ol me - can we call it a end here, and carry on in PM if you care to? Thank you very much. *bows*
