Some of those Dwarves we'll miss sooner, already at the end of this Trilogy, but don't forget there's more to come after that, where it is Balin's tomb we'll see, now all the dearer to us all, thanks to whatever we'll have come to know about him in this 'Hobbit' Trilogy... Hail Balin!!! So I for one am expressing my gratitude also for these "unexciting" little scenes you're making us aware of too..

And it's a good one. From a book, I'd say, because magazines usually plaster text and page numbers all over everything - but I could be wrong Fascinated by the long-deserted table

... could be the dwarves questioning Thorins motives. As you all know, Dwalin is very loyal to Thorin and Balin seems to be more aware of the dragon sickness and how it might be affecting him. So this might create interesting tension, if they really are to have such a conversation.

... and scenes like this would make this a great movie, imho. The thriller that PJ wants to deliver would need such scenes of character tensions. Though I am a bit anxious after seeing what PJ thought was "redundant" even for the EE.
"I am afraid it is only too likely to be true what you say about the critics and the public. I am dreading the publication for it will be impossible not to mind what is said. I have exposed my heart to be shot at." J.R.R. Tolkien We all have our hearts and minds one way or another invested in these books and movies. So we all mind and should show the necessary respect.
