New BOTFA Poster Can't Post

https://scontent-a-lhr.xx.fbcdn.net/...6908&oe=54F0E4C9

I really love the fighting in the bottom half, but some of the characters are positioned oddly - Smaug, for example, is rather clumsily inserted, and Bilbo should be in scale with Thorin and Gandalf I think. I'd have preferred a wider sweep of the battle without any of the big character shots.

And where are Kili and Fili at least? They need to come to the fore now.

Thanks for posting [In reply to] Can't Post

Yes, agree – very odd. Looks as though the characters are growing in a tree with the biggest at the top.Unimpressed

It's a nice poster [In reply to] Can't Post

I agree that some of the decisions are questionable, but it is still a nice poster Smile I miss Fili and Kili though... As you say, the really need to be portrayed as meaningful characters... And it would have been nice to see Galadriel instead of Tauriel!

Very ugly... [In reply to] Can't Post

Last years "floating head" group poster at least felt a bit more cohesive. This is a mess. And yes, those look like Moria orcs. Marketing for movies has become so lazy. $750 million for the movies, but can't hire a decent marketing team. If you can't photoshop something quite right, why not draw/paint it like the great posters for Indiana Jones or Star Wars?

Happens all the time... [In reply to] Can't Post

The poster for Fellowship of the Ring uses Aragorn in his Helm's Deep armor.

"The danger with any movie that does as well as this one does is that the amount of money it's making and the number of awards that it's got becomes almost more important than the movie itself in people's minds. I look at that as, in a sense, being very much like the Ring, and its effect on people. You know, you can kind of forget what we were doing, if you get too wrapped up in that."

That's two different things [In reply to] Can't Post

One is whether you like the poster, the other is about whether the marketing team is decent.
The first is personal taste and the second is straightforwardly in relation to the job of a marketing team - to sell tickets. That's what a marketing team is for.

I really like the poster but... [In reply to] Can't Post

I think it would add have been much better if Smaug was not on it. He does not really fit in and he is kind of blurry. The fact that Bilbo is reused picture does not bother me that much, nor does the fact that Gandalf has his old staff. Just my opinion! Smile
