Walk to Rivendell and Beyond - There and Back Again Challenge!

It's an abbreviated but on-time post for me this week - I'm on the computer that doesn't have all the links saved in it, and I've learned not to simply copy and paste from a previous thread (something about layers of encryption accreting on the links...). How go your journeys? Where have your physical activities brought you in Middle Earth? We'll be starting a new challenge after the next Hobbit movie is out, probably following Frodo's journey in LOTR if folks are interested - let me know if you are, or if you want to hold off on another challenge. This one got a bit... longer... than intended... My progress: Miles covered (two weeks): 30 Cumulative miles: 1625 Goal: There and Back Again! Well, we're getting closer to Rivendell, at any rate. I have around 50 miles to go, Beamer about 150, so that's something. I don't think I'll make it all the way back to Bag End by the end of the Challenge. On the other hand, it's gotten me to pay attention to how much activity/exercise I'm getting every day and to work on improving it, so on balance I'm glad for it. At least my foot's behaving better now, and I know it does better when I walk more. I was felled by a cold this past week, the kind that knocks you down and insists on you not moving. But it's leaving now (ahem - leaving. now.) and we're going on a family adventure this weekend, so our mileage should be heading in the right direction. Beamer's progress: Miles covered (two weeks): 34 Cumulative miles: 1523 Goal: Group Challenge Arandiel

I'm back from our whirlwind family trip to the Black Hills this past weekend and finally able to dig through my email. There'll be more about that trip tomorrow, but I wanted to say 'hi' back and agree with you on the glorious Fall - it's happened here in northern Colorado, too! And South Dakota was lovely.

Looks like it's been a slow week on Main, so here's the WtR update. How go your journeys through Middle Earth and this earth? And whether you're on a journey right now or not, where's your favorite place to wander? My progress: Miles covered this week: 20 Cumulative miles: 1645 Goal: There and Back Again! This past weekend was great for mileage, as we hiked around Mount Rushmore and other sights in South Dakota's Black Hills. But when we got back, I spent a couple days recovering from all the stairs involved! Still, the weather was glorious, the scenery was breathtaking, and we had a wonderful time. This weekend, my goal is to rake the leaves in the yard before our weather turns cooler. It must, since Halloween is next weekend and the idea of having decent weather for it is not something most of us Coloradans can wrap our heads around!
