The Assault on Dol Guldur: Where they will "fight" ?!
|
Can't Post

|
Just was wondering about that since what we have seen so far, there aren´t many places where a battle, even basically a magical one can take place. We have seen Gandalf on this platform outside, where he gets attacked by Azog. Maybe there ? Since all the transitions seem to be quite angular and narrow its actually hard to imagine more than 3-4 characters "fighting" in one place. Or are there probably any levels in Dol Guldur which we haven´t seen so far ?! Thoughts?

I don't think there will be a 'fight' as such

All I see happening is Galadriel having basically the same battle of light vs dark against Sauron and winning through using the Light of Earendil and/or Nenya to up her powers. Saruman may despatch some orcs by collapsing the bridge or something.

...Galadriel should NEVER be portrayed as more competent/powerful as Gandalf.

We are comparing Galadriel and Gandalf the Grey, not Galadriel and Olórin the Maia. Gandalf the Grey, while certainly powerful, is not one for big shows of power. His task is to give advice and try to unite the good people of M-E to fight against the growing evil. His powers on M-E are restricted, Galadriel's aren't.

Also, there's lots of areas where PJ can maneuver on this since it was not really quite specified as to what Nenya can do (if she were to use it), the Phial (if it is more potent in her hands), and what she learned from Melian. Galadriel is no fool; I don't think it will be a surprise for her coming into Dol Guldur knowing that she will be facing Sauron. GOM

...Gandalf should always be more of a match to Sauron in a one-to-one battle, than Galadriel. Especially when his ''life'' is at stake.

Anything more to come first in DOS EE?...

Like, seeing what happened to Gandalf last, before he wakes up caged with the Orcs armies going out?... Any sign yet that the Dol Guldur scenes of DOS will be more in the EE?

I think it will be great to have the skirmish play out among all the pillars, walls, and staircases. Rubble falling, shadows moving... somethign very different to what we ever saw in these movies.
"I am afraid it is only too likely to be true what you say about the critics and the public. I am dreading the publication for it will be impossible not to mind what is said. I have exposed my heart to be shot at." J.R.R. Tolkien We all have our hearts and minds one way or another invested in these books and movies. So we all mind and should show the necessary respect.

Most likely Sauron would have tortured him and he would have been physically very weak during the time of the rescue; the part where Galadriel kisses his forehead suggests that.... Or it may be possible that Galadriel sent images to Gandalf that she is coming to help him (just like she sent images to Frodo to see)... GOM

When Frodo in Return of the King (he sees an image of Galadriel helping him; helping him up). Galadriel talking to Gandalf then suddenly vanishing (most likely it was in his mind), other than that Galadriel can move at super speed...lol Galadriel sharing images with Elrond during a narrative regarding Isengard, etc.....Elrond wasn't there....
